I’ve noticed that there is a LadyDanburysHat on here and I THINK we have been mistaken for each other in the past. I certainly had someone make a very pointed comment about something they thought I’d said…. when it had been Hat not me….

I feel your pain, a new mum on our year group WhatsApp group, has my actual real life name (unique name and I’ve only ever met one other previously). I’ve been on said group for 7 years, she rocks up a couple of months ago and turns out, is a bit of opinionated twat, so I’m the one who has to name my change on the group, so people don’t think it’s me! Outrageous behaviour, this name stealing malarkey!!

Merlo · 09/11/2022 15:19

Or even, change my name!!

mam0918 · 09/11/2022 15:19

Who cares?

I hadly doubt mam followed by numbers is unique, on other forums I have litrally used a random concoction of letters not spelling anything (usually taken from a past postcode or car reg) and regularly found people only 1 letter off.

Its never caused an issue, its hardly like they are stealing my identity.

Ok, does it matter though? 😂

it does matter because "active conversations" is now peppered with threads from 2007. The username of the deleted poster is a bit of a clue that this is just malicious and time wasting - for the people who respond in good faith and for MN who have to read all the reports and delete the posts.
