Cake!

(This is a what should I do, as clearly the only AIBU is not stuffing it all in my face.)

Been up north with family for the weekend and picked up 5 sexy cakes from a local baker to take to work for my/colleague's birthdays. Taking them back to London in the car. They have buttercream icing. Do I leave them in the car overnight to stay cool or take them inside? The flat isn't boiling hot but is warmer than the car obv.

I would store in the car, a bit cooler.

Or you can nibble on them strategically so they shrink and fit in?

How long are you planning to keep them? Do you and your colleagues all have birthdays this week?! That's going to be one well-stocked staff-room. (Or are they supposed to take them home?)

They should be fine in the car overnight. What's the temp predicted to be? As long as your boot isn't over your engine (I don't own a car so know nothing about this - but do bake - a lot!)

No, boot is in the back, away from the engine, so no fumes!

Update: cakes enjoyed their night in the chilly car and I managed to get them into work without smashing them. Thanks all, I will have some v happy colleagues in about 10 mins :)

Ooh lovely! I think the one with the strawberries is whipped cream, I'd put that one in the fridge and leave the rest in the boot.

If DS is in a good mood this afternoon (snotty poorly baby) I might make a sponge.

In this weather I would leave them in the car, no worries. But what I need to know is, where did they come from?

I am 'up north', so depending on where you went, more cakes like those could be just around the corner from me, or still hundreds of miles away, if your 'up north' is actually Scotland.

I found her at the monthly food fair in Wilmslow - think it travels around Cheshire; I certainly know it's on in Wilmslow again next weekend. so it depends if you think that Cheshire counts as up north or if it's the midlands to you . Some of her creations are crazy, eg one that was smothered in haribo and mini milky ways etc was very cool indeed.

I'm not really a cake fan myself, but in the interest of research, tried the salty caramel and chocolate and the lemon ones, can confirm that they are delicious.

Spare a thought for DP, who co-ordinated dragging them 200 miles down here without squashing them - and didn't even get to taste one!

I don't think they would keep in either so I will mind them for you 😇😇😉😇
