Never heard of him. Too tired now to make sense of much so will watch tomorrow.

CockacidalManiac · 12/11/2016 22:54

Don't remember him being all spiky about Putin when he was taking money from Russia Today.

DoctorTwo · 13/11/2016 07:21

He's talking bollocks. Those on low incomes were more likely to vote Clinton; those on higher incomes more likely to vote Trump

According to the media. The same media who predicted a hung parliament and Britain to stay in the EU. He's right about the ballot box too.

I'd say your comment is about trying to shut down argument, why not try to explain rather than dismiss his rant as 'bollocks'?

And what the fuck do you mean by 'the left' in the US?

Kshami Sawant is a good start. She's worth a Google. Other than her and Bernie Sanders (AS my NN and you'll find that I opined that Sanders would beat Trump but Trump would probably beat Clinton) I have no idea. I'm British.

So tell me why these people are wrong for wanting a change in the status quo? They've had, as have we, over 40 years of declining wages at the bottom and all the wealth rushing to the top. When somebody comes along and says that he's going to stop all that and bring back jobs, who wouldn't vote for that?

He's not wrong about no platforming too. And when were you ever won over by insults? So he's right about that too. So my original comment that he's right more often than not is accurate.

KathyBeale · 13/11/2016 07:30

My MIL shared that on FB yesterday. It's rubbish. It's not funny and it's very badly delivered. Plus the stuff he is saying isn't true and he always mixes up American and British politics when they are very different places and political systems. I said on her post and I'm saying it here that he is clearly not half as clever as he thinks he is.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 13/11/2016 07:30

That's the point though. How is. A billionaire responsible for sending jobs abroad and a self-admitted tax avoider anything other than the status quo.
That's what I don't understand about all this claiming it was an anti-establishment vote. If that's so true why vote for such an establishment character.
I personally feel the real blame for Trump is with the Republican Party who assumed he wouldn't win any primaries and split the rest of the vote so many ways for so long. If it had been Trump vs A N Other Republican (but only one) from the start he never would have got the nomination

Amalfimamma · 13/11/2016 07:43

He is 100% spot on with his rant and it's a rant I often have.

CockacidalManiac · 13/11/2016 10:50

No, according to the data

So Trump is going to bring back all those rust belt jobs lost to outsourcing/technology? How is that going to happen, exactly?

CockacidalManiac · 13/11/2016 10:51

None of his videos stand the slightest bit of analysis.

DoctorTwo · 13/11/2016 11:58

No, according to the data

Thus proving his point about the ballot box being the one place 'ordinary' people can express themselves without being shouted down or cast as racist and stupid.

None of his videos stand the slightest bit of analysis.

Of course not. Why not explain why instead of dismissing out of hand? Again proving yet another of his points.

witsender · 13/11/2016 14:06

I saw him live, he's actually pretty good.

MrsLyons · 13/11/2016 20:23

Completely agree Doctor

This makes no sense if you even give a moments thought to it.

DoctorTwo · 14/11/2016 05:42

That's at least 3 times you've tried to shut me down without offering a reason. You're not going to change minds with that type of behaviour. Which are 2 points made in the rant...

Instead of trying to shut me down at least explain why you think he, I, and the majority of others on this thread and other threads are all wrong? It's called a debate and it's quite healthy and can lead to changed minds. Bitchplopping changes nothing.

Pizanfan · 14/11/2016 06:14

Pie's view, albeit a touch simplistic is pretty bang on...

Trump was a pretty decent bet, and his election could potentially be a catalyst for change in the US election system, AND the mainstream media's arrogance to report what they want the public to think, instead of what the public should know.

BoneyBackJefferson · 14/11/2016 18:15

CockacidalManiac

But your point proves his.
