To ask if anyone has a copy of "Captain Beaky and his Band" on CD?

Does anyone have a copy of "Captain Beaky and his band" (volume 1) on CD that they would like to SELL to me? (This is not a begging letter) I can't find a copy through any of the usual channels and it would make my DS's Christmas.

(I have the book and sing the songs out of that but I'm never going to make Britain's got Talent)

I also might be able to do you a tape if we still have the record...

Doublegloucester · 11/11/2016 20:55

Here they are, front and back complete with crack. Not great pictures, but an idea.

I find it so difficult to pick a favourite. Love Fred the sparrow, Kenny the Koala and Stanley the Stork. And Jock the circus flea in his 'silver spangled drawers' is such a great image

maddening · 11/11/2016 21:12

My parents have it on vinyl. That doesn't help.

Such wonderful childhood memories.

MintChocAddict · 11/11/2016 23:43

Wow!! I had this in my house as a child and must have forgotten all about it until now. Just started singing it and remembered words. Can't remember what day it is most of the time...

Timid Toad, reckless rat and above the trees flew batty bat..

Aww, thanks for the flashback OP Smile

BreconBeBuggered · 12/11/2016 00:17

An album, why did nobody ever tell me there was an album? Obviously I have the single, on vinyl. I'm not an animal.

TaurielTest · 12/11/2016 00:49

I can remember all the words to Enrico the Canary..

dinodiva · 12/11/2016 09:14

They did a revival at the Royal Albert Hall a couple of years ago and I went to that - it was awesome. It was narrated by all sorts of people, so lovely to hear it in a live setting! 🤗

Tinuviel · 12/11/2016 11:53

Well, that was a blast from the past! I shall have to listen to it more often!

ShatnersWig · 12/11/2016 12:06

Almost a year to the day that Keith Michell died, so rather appropriate thread. I adored both the original single and the follow up (The Trial of Hissing Side) when I was knee high to a grasshopper and used to spend all my time singing them for everyone (whether they wanted to hear them or not). It was amazing just how huge Captain Beaky a thing was at the time and seeing "Hissing Sid is Innocent" graffiti on motorway bridges and the like. Happy, much more innocent, days!

Peanutbutterfingers · 12/11/2016 17:14

They did one in Ludlow I think last year with live orchestra and actors

GrainOfSalt · 15/11/2016 21:50
