AIBU to splash out on boots?

With all the world madness I'm focusing on anything but the news - in this case BOOTS.
My tax return is looming (which I should have covered) and obviously it's Christmas....but I'm getting so sick of wet feet when I walk the dog and having to replace my boots (even pricey ones) every six months I'm considering splashing out on a pair of waterproof country boots.

I know the Dubarry style has become a bit of a fashion statement but they seem to be exactly what I need - if they last - I'm just a bit Shock at how much I'm going to be spending.

You see what's going on here, I just want a load of replies saying 'They're fantastic BUY THEM!' etc.

I'm also looking at cheaper alternatives but the reviews don't seem as favourable... if you've got any and think they're great please let me know!

The problem is that now instead of wanting one pair I want about five pairs...Grin

I have a pair of Welligogs boots for dog walking. I got fed up with cold welly feet.
They've been brilliant. I have long legs and they are a good length.

Winegumaddict · 09/11/2016 20:10

I don't have dubarrys but I've had several other brands I love them. I will never go back to wellies. My pairs last about a year but that's 2 dog walks a day, plus I ride in them and we have a farm so I spend all weekend in them. I love Wyre Valley boots but they can be tricky to find. Some zip up which can be good if you have larger calves. I'm wearing zip up ones at the moment as I'm very very pregnant so can't pull them on so easily. Try lots on and also look at the tread my Mum had some toggi boots but they didn't have much tread so she kept slipping in the mud. Other toggi boots have been brilliant.

My cat boots are 9 years old this winter, couldn't even count up the miles I've covered in these, can get them in loads of places and different colours :) my Best Buy to date

I have a pair of Toggis too. I think they cost 100 quid. I've had them for 6 or 7 years now and wear them every single day from October to April. I still really like them; they're very comfortable and they've never leaked water; I even take them camping and paddle in the sea in them.

britnay · 09/11/2016 20:57

I have these:

They are gorgeous!!! Lovely and cosy, ever so comfy :D

VladimirsPooTin · 09/11/2016 21:00

I love my Dubarrys.

whyistherumgone · 09/11/2016 21:29

Every time I think I've got a style preference someone else posts hehe! I'm having great fun virtual window shopping.
I do like the Uggs a lot - they look lovely - but I am leaning towards the knee high country boots.
If only I could buy them all!

Decent bed and decent shoes. If you're not in one you're in the other Grin

I've got a pair of uggs I've had for about eight years now. They were looking a bit tatty so I bought myself a pair of knitted socks that go over the top and transform them. Great for kicking about in.
Boots are one thing I don't really scrimp on and I do have several pairs if uggs as well as Cat boots etc
I do have a bit of a thing for boots though Blush

hollinhurst84 · 09/11/2016 23:24

I have the ariat grasmere. They get muddy, I hose them off BlushBlush and rarely clean them. They look fab still and they're maybe 4-5 years old now. I also find them really grippy with snow and ice

hollinhurst84 · 09/11/2016 23:24

Oh and they're like slippers from day 1!

whyistherumgone · 10/11/2016 10:35

wayharsh what's the sizing like on the uggs?
Now I have TWO pairs in my sights. Lots of love for the Ariats on here, going to try some on at the weekend.

Ariats are gorgeous and last so well, but I still adore my Toggis. My ex bought them for me for Christmas 2013 and they have been worn every single day since, for walking the dog in all weathers, riding, farm work, everything. They are still in perfect condition (bar one of the ties having been chewed by my puppy!) and trust me, that isn't down to me being overly careful with them. They even still look smart when scrubbed off! I LOVE them.

Figgygal · 10/11/2016 10:57

Sod it I say buy them!!

Ha I knew I'd find both the justification and encouragement here. On a completely separate note just done a test and got a very faint line (will test again in the morning) so am now thinking well I should definitely look after myself and keep my feet warm if it does turn out to be positive right?! MikeUniformMike · 10/11/2016 20:42

I'd buy a pair of Aigle wellies.

Oakley02 · 11/11/2016 06:57

I have Toggi, comfy and look great and roomy in the calves. They come up slightly on the big side too.

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 11/11/2016 09:12

Aaaah more reason to buy the boots indeed!! Massive congratulations, so exciting! Flowers

Agerbilatemycardigan · 11/11/2016 09:44

I think I might be suffering from boot envy Blush

PussyPatches · 11/11/2016 09:55
