Stories of triumph over brass-necks?

I've seen multiple threads on here about stories of people being brass-necked and there's always a bunch of people going "I can't believe the posters just let these pss-takers get away with it!" So this is a thread for stories about posters who didn't let these pss-takers get away with it.

Disclaimer: I'm not looking for cruelty or property damage or law breaking. I'm talking about things like "Jiminy Billy Bob called me at three in the morning expecting me to drive 100 miles to lend him a fiver! But I told him I'd love to, except: reason x, reason y, and reason z. Then I went back to sleep!"

Maybe this won't take off, but I just thought it'd be a bit empowering, among the stories of being being bolshy and brass necked, to hear some stories about people who stood up for themselves and won back a little ground against the cheeky selfishness that is so rampant in the world!

(MNHQ, if this isn't okay, I fully understand it getting deleted. I am honestly not trying to encourage bad behavior, just confidence and assertion. I hope that's okay!!)

Another one who doesn't really care what the law says I chose to shop in establishments which offer a bit more flexibility.

WhisperingLoudly Agreed.

Back to the point... My husband and I moved into a maisonette below a woman who'd lived there for 40+ years. As it had originally been one house and then converted to two flats, the garden was set up strangely - divided widthways, so she had to walk through our garden to get to hers.

Wen we moved in she announced that she looked after the pond and bird feeder in our garden. I gathered that the previous neighbours were glad to let her do it, since they didn't care about gardening.

I told her my husband and I would look after our own garden from then on. She was very affronted and carried on feeding the birds... so I took the bird feeder down, put it in her garden, bought my own and emptied it of any food she put in it. She soon got the message.

I work in in food and a woman once complained her food was ''too hot''. I told her to blow on it and just walked off. She used to come in every single week and complain about something - it felt so good to just walk away.

DOn't know if this counts, but - when I was a kid there was a horrible bully in my street, always tormenting the other kids. We were all scared of him. One day he came at us girls in the park with dogshit on a stick. As we were running away screaming, something snapped inside me and I stopped, turned round and beat the crap out of him, breaking his glasses too. His mum came round later and shouted at my mum, who I'm glad to say gave her what for.
