This property is beautiful from the outside (and the price reflects that).

So why the feck would anyone choose that as a first picture?!

Nothing 'wrong' thr prices in Scotland are lower than in the south. I've just bought a townhouse for £166k.

Redglitter · 05/11/2016 12:52

It also needs work done so that's reflected in the price. £175k for a 3 bedroom flat needing work done seems pretty reasonable

HarmlessChap · 05/11/2016 13:02

From an marketing perspective they have not only got you to notice that advert but also increase its exposure (with this thread) in a way that wouldn't have happened if they put the nice picture as the 1st one you see.

So yes YABU, it was a master stroke, assuming it was deliberate.

Groovee · 05/11/2016 13:03

The outside is so amazing! Shame about that first picture.

MatildaTheCat · 05/11/2016 13:16

The house is very obviously a project. Is any serious buyer really put off by carpets etc? They are looking at room dimensions and layout not whether a forty year old carpet is attractive.

Nice price and a nice property. Can only dream in London.

MrsReiver · 05/11/2016 13:17

We were very happy there - we haven't moved very far out of the area. Falkirk is a fantastic halfway point between Edinburgh and Glasgow and the prices are very reasonable.

Have you had a look at Falkirk itself? There are some gorgeous houses there.

Looks to me as if it's a house previously owned by an elderly person who has died, or who has gone into residential care. In Scotland it is common for house sales to be managed by a solicitor not an estate agent which is what is happening in this case. Could be the winding up of an estate - nobody actively managing the sale.

Upper/lower villa is common too - I grew up in an upper villa - we had our own front door, steps up from the front door into the house which was all on one level, and another flight of steps down from the back door into the garden.

CalmItKermitt · 05/11/2016 16:37

So would the garden be shared with upstairs?

They've made an error with their image upload positioning, but what a great place for the price!! (wouldn't get a studio flat here for that 🙁).
