To call in sick for a cough?

I called in sick yesterday as I have a chest infection. It started last week with coughing which I carried on working with but over the weekend just got much worse with extreme lethargy, nausea, headache etc.
So I called in sick yesterday. Boss very supportive and told me to get well before coming back. I was meant to go back today but actually felt worse, the cough kept me up all night and this morning my penis was on fire, could barely walk and felt weak so I called in sick again.

Cough has actually got WORSE throughout the day but I don't know what to do. I went to dr yesterday who said it was a viral infection so could give me nothing for it but it's actually got worse not better.

I don't want to be off work 3 days in a row, I've only been in this job 3 months but the cough is actually quite disabling. It's so deep and angry and makes me feel like I'm going to throw up.

Should I actually call in sick for a cough?? I'm a nurse btw so also conscious about coughing and spluttering on my old people

Get well soon and thanks for the typo, just what I needed Grin

I would call in sick if my penis was on fire too.

Well joking aside this cough is really wearing me out, it's constant and really deep. I've just called nhs 111 who told be to call gp back and tell them 111 sent you so to speak ... called gp and was told they have no scope to see me today 🙄 Shortness of breath used to get you a gp No problems - these days you need to be blue around the lips before they'll even consider it

I did confirm to them that my penis was cooling off however.

Sorry you are unwell...but my god I can't stop laughing at that awesome typo.

If you are sick you are sick, no point in going in and doing a half assed job / making colleagues sick. Sounds as though you have a supportive manager too.

Do you have an out of hours doctors you can visit if your GP is unable to see you?

Definitely stay off. Yous boss said to be well before coming back, and bringing a chest infection to a bunch of elderly people will end in disaster..
