Took my DC trick or treating, we only go to those who are decorated or who with lights on as is custom in our street but for the first time I was met with this ...

Hmm Grin

Honestly? You are making a huge issue out of nothing.

NEibourgh watch or not, people are still OK to do as they please. They can leave their utility light on if they want and still not want trick and treaters.
They can also disagree with what that group is deciding. It's not law and they do not have to impose that everyone if they don't want to.

The more you talk about it, the more I think they have done the very British PA act of saying 'stuff you' by leaving said lights on AND stopping you from going there.

Actually I think it's quite classy then Grin

Looks like wet cement to me... How do you explain the different colour on the path?

gillybeanz · 31/10/2016 19:33

What happens if you are a private person and don't get involved with residents meetings and I want all my lights on not just a laundry room and passage.

MsJamieFraser · 31/10/2016 19:34

My path is exactly the same, the path where the stones are must be the boundary line to the property and over that must be the local authority's, this is all an ex-council estate.

There is no mountain of a mohill, big deal here, I just found it funny and odd at the same time. It's the first I have ever seen someone do it, -!: I've been trick or treating for years, I don't even think I seen this in my childhood.

Nothing happens Gilly. This is a area where the community do alot for its kids, they raised funds to build the children a play park after the council knocked the very old one down, going into our street there is a main road of sorts... they fenced the perimeter off to make it safe for the kids.

It's a lovely street, a few issues but none you wouldn't expect.

This is odd but ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. Love it. So much better than a note saying 'no trick or treaters' or whatever.

Lets see the little buggers trick or treat me this year! Grin

Aw, ok I get it now.
It's an estate where people look out for their kids, not a do as we say street.
In that case, it's classy Grin
They obviously aren't interested which is fair enough.
FWIW, I love areas like yours OP, where they do things for the community and you can join in if you want to.
They tend to look after their own, which is lovely. Thanks
