To be in my 30s and still need freezer defrosting advice!

I have a combination fridge freezer and I'm really hoping someone can tell me it's possible to defrost freezer without having to turn my fridge off!

The freezer door was left open and it now literally full of ice and desperately needs defrosting but my fridge is full so I can't resort turn it off for a long period of time

I've tried the hot water technique before which wasn't very successful

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Also in this day and age I can't believe there isn't some way of turning the freezer off with out the fridge! Angry

No hels71 but think of the laughs we're having!

All these disasters have reminded me why I bought a frost free fridge freezer last time.

Last time was 20 years ago. It needs replaced now, and I am insisting to DH that we will be buying frost free again even though they are a little more expensive.

Before I had frost free I remember spending ages in front of ours with hair dryer in hand, trying to ensure it wasn't close enough for the heat to do any damage.

Boiling water and a sharp knife are definitely the way forward. Followed by a trip to A&E and a new fridge/freezer

Well, I have had a a tub of Ben and jerrys in there for 2 days now, and so far it's still frozen! Grin I'm hoping my duct tape patch up will be enough to hold the gas in Confused if not, I know what I'll be getting for Xmas from OH Sad

I am very pleased to hear I am not the only one who has had such disasters though

and holes or not I'm still riding the frost free freezer high!! Grin
