Pros and cons of buying a new build????
I'm single and 29 - living at parents - inherited money from father brother - don't know whether to buy new build house (will take all my cash) or buy a old house (will prob need renovating) or just buy 2 bed flat and have 20/30k to go travelling and for adventures with!!! - friend dead set against new builds but mum thinks new build be perfect can personalise and no stress as got a ten year guarantee - reading online bellway property's are getting proper bad reviews!

I love period properties and generally don't like new builds. But, I would go for a new build because renovations just take too much time and money, and they are not fun to live with especially if you are doing them all yourself.

I wouldn't buy off plan, I'd wait. My mum bought off plan and over a year later they are plagued with issues that should have been sorted. For example, the drainage was completed incorrectly so they have had a leak for months and have been paying £150 a MONTH on a water meter. This has meant all the lovely flooring in the house has had to come up, as has the driveway and the garden.

We have lived in a 1930's flat, a 1906 terrace, one from 1894 and then 1850 so do see the harm of old houses. Most have needed decoration, one needed new doors and windows, this one needed a new bathroom. Other things may raise their head; roofs are always a concern, damp is something to watch for... I dare not say out loud what I am concerned about with this one..... but we live in a beautiful old house which is unique and has mementoes from its previous inhabitants. If you love old, then heart wins over head.
