Does anyone NOT have a TV?

My little brother (12) is hoping to come and live with me in the new year. A friend of mine was joking about it today and said that will be the end of my having no TV in the house. Made me wonder if there are still people out there who chose not to have a TV in their house?

Bowie - I don't see how our children are missing out. They see tv occasionally at school and I think that's enough. Dh works in the games/ tech industry, and he says he feels no need to watch any at home and doesn't feel our children need to be using it at their age. They really need to be reading fluently and good at maths to make use of actual computer coding. He will be teaching them, but from 12+, not at 5/6/7 years when they spend time playing with trains and digging in mud*

Jeepers, that's really interesting. You have such young children but you're also a grandma. You must have great fun.

I have an old panasonic t.v. that someone gave me a couple of years ago- one of the first widescreen types that has a huge fat back on it and weighs a tonne.

I cut the arial cable last year and stopped paying TV license so don't watch anything on it but DS does use it for playstation.

About to move in with DP who wants 4 TVs between 3 of us and is always baffled when he comes home from work and I'm pluttering about with no tele on.

I watch it with him when I'm staying but don't give it another thought the rest of the time.

No working TV here either (can use to plug into DVD player but no free to air), just youtube on computer when wanted. Never been an issue at all.

The only relation I can see would be the lack of adverts meaning less pester power for toys

That was one of the main reasons I haven't been arsed to figure out connecting to the satellite dish. DD is a sucker for adverts, she wants every toy she sees and it drives me nuts!
