Just brought a handheld...hopefully it will be good for the price it should have been (got it got for £50, thanks MN). Just need it for crumbs and corners when I can't be bothered to lug the hoover out. If it's rubbish I will be starting a thread Grin

ItsJustNotRight · 28/10/2016 08:40

I had a steam mop and it was awful, I wouldn't recommend buying one. I had one of the old style orange ones that also shampooed carpets, it was brilliant. I use it now for hoovering out the wood burner, it's great for that.

ItsJustNotRight · 28/10/2016 08:41

Sorry that's not clear, too early. The steam mop was useless, the vacuum cleaner/shampooer was and still is very good.

Inthenick · 28/10/2016 10:29

VAX are forever doing 70% off, to the point that I wonder how they are not in trouble with the trading authority. I've bought two VAC products in the last few years, vaccine cleaner was ok, not great. But the handheld was an absolute disgrace. No suction at all and when I took the canister off to empty I've never been able to get it back on again. A simple plastic clip system but so is porky made it down sent work.

Inthenick · 28/10/2016 10:30

Poorly made..😏

BarbaraofSeville · 28/10/2016 10:41

I bought a cordless handheld that was supposedly half price and it was utterly shit and picked up nothing.

Saw sense and got a Dyson one on an Aldi special and it is a million times better and actually works great.

I think this is one thing where you get what you pay for and with Vax they aren't even worth the discounted price.

SeenYourArse · 28/10/2016 10:44

I love our Vax Hoover it's been great 6 yeas old and still going strong, having coped with every other day use due to all the hair a 42kg German Shepherd dog sheds! Can't fault it

Bambinho · 28/10/2016 10:50

Can't give a comparison with the Vax but I've recently got the Dyson cordless, the V8 Absolute (the really expensive one Shock ) and am absolutely loving it. It picks up really well, better than my beloved Miele Cat & Dog Sad and I find I want an excuse to use it everyday. Currently on 4 easy pays on QVC Grin

RhiWrites · 28/10/2016 16:53

Oh FFS, I bought two Vaxes from Amazon at a combined cost of over £300 last week! Buggeration. Shock

YouMakeMyDreams · 28/10/2016 17:01

Took advantage of a similar offer last year never ever again. They take three money say delivery in x number of days but it doesn't arrive. You contact them repeatedly for weeks and weeks before you lose the will to live and have no desire to see another Vax again.
The problem is they sell more than they actually have before it eventually shows out of stock if it ever does. Was a complete shambles and the attitude towards a lot of unhappy customers on their social media was pretty poor. Was months before some people got their items. I gave up and got a refund about 6 weeks later. Well had given up before that it just took so long to get a reply from them.

musicposy · 28/10/2016 18:06

Can you ask them to include a hard floor washer? We had a carpet cleaner in the past but now have all hard floors due to 4 dogs, one with dodgy continence.
Amazon do the V120 at £96 but if they can beat that I might be interested!

MooPointCowsOpinion · 28/10/2016 19:56

Has anyone got the Air Cordless? Very tempted!

IamtheZombie · 28/10/2016 21:06

Oh, dear. Zombie appears to have ordered a carpet cleaner...

Halloween Grin
FedUpBird · 29/10/2016 00:51

Ordered one of the all terrain things and have a tracking number for delivery tomorrow, let's see if it turns up...hope it will then I can take it back to Germany with me on Sunday Halloween Grin

QueenofLouisiana · 29/10/2016 08:47

I'm up and ready to clean my floors. DH and DS are out all day and it's supposed to be a dry day so I can open the doors.

Knackered46 · 29/10/2016 12:49

Just got mine this morning Halloween Grin the children are fighting over it to hoover their bedrooms...

QueenofLouisiana · 29/10/2016 13:52

Bleurgh! May never walk on my carpets again after see what came out of them today! I paid a cleaning company to do them earlier in the year so it was as though there was years of dirt there either.

DDog may need to learn to wear boots outside.

Saffronesque · 29/10/2016 14:04

RhiWrites, Amazon do a price match thingy - ring them up via the contact us automated call & politely say you'd like to return them if they can't help; noreally they ate really helpful. Just do it within 14 days of original order date.

CormoranStrike · 29/10/2016 14:26

You've not got the code for the one I really want, the slimvac pet at £139 with free tools.

@mnhq if you can get a code on that I will buy it now!

SandysMam · 29/10/2016 17:50

It's here and it's rubbish Sad hardly any suction and my other half said he saw it for £30 somewhere!! I feel sad. Is being rubbish grounds to send it back?

BarbaraofSeville · 29/10/2016 18:33

I don't see why not Sandysmam.

I'm fairly certain that with online shopping you have a week or two to return things for any reason because you need to check that you are happy with the item and you are not.

I didn't get round to sending mine back as life took over but it was only £25 and it now lives in our caravan so not totally wasted but it still doesn't pick up properly when used in there either.

SandysMam · 29/10/2016 20:08

Just weird how they can make a product that sucks (just not literally Grin) and they don't want to make it better! They should have a new slogan "Vax, for people who can't afford a dyson but end up wishing they'd just got one anyway"! Lol!

Just ordered the steerable pet Airlift. Had been looking at it in Curry's this morning but couldn't get anyone to come and serve us.

CorpsemoranShriek · 30/10/2016 20:39

I ended up ordering the one I fancied from AO.com; it arrived today and so far I am very impressed.
