To wonder if anyone here is a goth?

I'm not a goth but i saw the most stunning goth girl in town at the weekend.. raven black hair, pale face, beautiful black victorian coat, great boots and silver jewellery including a septum piercing.

It does help that she was stunning and not everyone can pull off the look ( definately not me. )

It just got me curious about Goth culture. I was wondering if any gotjs could talk to me about their style and culture and why they are goths. Just curious.

I was when younger and still love the music!

weresquirrel · 24/10/2016 21:06

Anyone been to Whitby?

Pericombobulations · 24/10/2016 21:09

Yes, but in my own little way (was known as the blue sparkly goth) still dabble when I dont have work to worry about

Ah. Cliques. So much fun. Whitby a sterling example. That's what killed any goth/ alternative trend following in me!
You're never just goth, you must define your goth group Hmm

GrinchyMcGrincherson · 24/10/2016 21:29

*I was a Goth/nu-me taller in my teens.

I still like the look now, but I'm too old, fat and lacking in a social life to bother getting dressed up*

Same here although I've kept my purple hair and love of black things.

There used to be a lovely poster here who I think was a Goth. She flounced as posters were a bit unkind to her.Are you there Vic? Smile

In a way, the conformity of goth is much easier and clearer than mainstream teen culture.

That's right. Being a mainstream teen fasionista is extremely hard if your parents are unwilling to shell out a fortune on your clothing. But when you are a goth, there is no shame in going to charity shops or finding quirky vintage stuff. Its actually cool.

used to be, still lean that way much of the time, although i've gone rather rockabilly lately.

still a goth/rocker underneath :) As are most of my social group.

I dabbled in my teens and twenties. I dress less noticeably gothic these days..I'm more rock chick really. Never wanted to be part of the crowd and just tolerate mainstream music. I still have my favourite pair of jeans from my twenties..baggy..chain and rock chicken emblazoned on the arse..will NEVER throw em Grin

Waaaay back in my youth (in the 80s). The clothes seemed much less developed then, I think. As long as it was black, you were ok! loved fields of the Nephilim.
