To think that setting off on a group excursion at 1.45 am is insane

Shooting badgers? NU to go out at silly o'clock. Smile Though shooting badgers would be illegal.

As children, my brother and I slept in the car overnight all the way from Glasgow to Cornwall. In the days before seat belts. Parents took turns driving. We arrived safely, glad to say. I would never do that now as an adult.

I am sometimes alarmed at the number of coach crashes there are, often involving school children from places in the UK travelling overnight to faraway places. Often too the children who are most seriously hurt have not been wearing seat belts.Sad

Puppets on our trip they have to wear seatbelts and we go up and down the coach checking every so often.

I would imagine all school trips would be the same.

I wouldn't, but if I did I would most likely end up with a few kangaroos and a wombat as hood ornaments.

I had to drop DDS off at crazy times for school ski trips/choir tours/brownie camps/pilgrimages and on and on and on. The stupid o'clock flights and ferries made these wonderful trips affordable. I will always be grateful for the staff and volunteers that gave DDs those amazing opportunities.

Fuck, I remember doing exactly same thing. It didn't end particularly well so YANBU. They'll probably all be exhausted and snapping at each other by the time they get there, never mind 3/4 days later.

I've done a few overnight coach trips for gigs as it saves paying for a hotel room. Midnight coach arrives where I want to be at around 7am, I get some breakfast, find a civilised loo to get into my fancy outfit, enjoy my day and get the night coach home once it's all over.

TalkofSummertime · 23/10/2016 23:33

Sorry, didn't notice it was with guides. In that case, she'll get a rest on the coach. Worry not, OP!

If you're a presenter on "Autumnwatch" then it's perfectly normal. If you don't work for a nature programme and you're going outside just for a mooch, not normal!

RubbishMantra · 23/10/2016 23:42

I had similar for a school trip. I did my spiky mullet hair Blush and snoozed upright (as not to squash mullet hair) until wake-up call at 2am.

Had an awesome time, and had my first kiss outside Notre Dame. He tasted of cheese and onion crisps though...Sad

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 24/10/2016 08:20

Eek. Hope there will be no kissing forriners!
