Hide it in the salad drawer.

Davros · 23/10/2016 00:10

I read some of this thread out to DH - partly because it's fucking hilarious and partly as a dire warning to him. He used to be a food hygiene fanatic, now he doesn't give a shit and eats all sorts of things in the middle of the night and leaves it out as well as dirty crockery. He doesn't sleep well and, although I try hard to sympathise, I DO sleep well and I never know what I'm going to find in the morning and what will have completely disappeared from the fridge.

HopefulHamster · 23/10/2016 00:21

You need secret ham in a secret box marked up with something like 'vegetable leftovers'. Only then will it be secure.

SylvieB74 · 23/10/2016 00:46

I thought you were gonna say you were a Muslim 😀

midsummabreak · 23/10/2016 01:00

Don't touch his ham Have your secret stash (as others said)

Leave his ham where he leaves it, to go all shivelled and rancid

Bastard

Only way he'll learn is by stopping being mummy to a grown man

Have same problem with my teens and younger tweens- some of them cover the ham and argue with the others who don't cover it with cf
Those who think they need waiting on and can't be arsed leave the ham for others to cover Sooooo annoying

he is being a lazy dick I'm sure he knows eactly what he needs to change but having scolding mummy is more appealing than growing up

Wouldn't blame you to ban ham either

BlackeyedSusan · 23/10/2016 01:01

like he is saying fuck you, i don't care...

same with all the greedy fuckers who eat all the packet of ham etc. dopn't give a damn about anyone else in the house.

beingsingle has it's benefits. til ds grows big enough to reach the top shelf of the fridge.

BerylStreep · 23/10/2016 01:12

I agree with buying your own and hiding it. I hide stuff under the sweet potatoes in the bottom drawer in the fridge. I also hide the nice coffee behind the hoover under the stairs.

Those food clips you can get in Ikea are good for food storage, as is a large supply of rectangular glass dishes with lids. Everything gets put into a glass dish in our house.

Deux · 23/10/2016 09:59

Buy your own ham and wrap the packet in tin foil, so handily disguising it.

My DH will only eat what he can man-see. So it has to be in his line of vision and instantly recognisable as soon as he opens he fridge.

Anything wrapped in tin foil keeps him away. 😀

NoIsAnAnswer · 23/10/2016 10:05

My DH does this with cheese.

It drives me mad.

Though the dog gets the slightly stale bit I cut off so she's happy

haveacupoftea · 23/10/2016 10:05

Tell TB that you have regular UTIs and need to keep specimens of urine in the fridge for weekly testing. Put your ham in a box and mark it INFECTED URINE SPECIMENT: DO NOT OPEN.

Maybe put some chocolate and Cornish Cruncher in the box too for good measure.

NoIsAnAnswer · 23/10/2016 10:06

Yes deux that is a great idea.

Man-sight!

My dh has this

MrsLion · 23/10/2016 10:18

I thought you were going to complain about horrendous ham farts.

BowieFan · 23/10/2016 10:42

LTB.

Seriously, are all men like this?

I came home the other day to find DS1, DS2 and DP all picking at a Costco chicken I'd bought for our tea. They looked like they were feral and ate it like someone was going to take it off them!

DP will quite happily sit and eat an entire packet of ham or chicken. I have to hide my cheese from him because he would quite easily eat a whole slice of Brie if I let him.

BowieFan · 23/10/2016 10:43

I've taken to hiding nice things of mine in the salad drawer of the fridge. I know they're not going to look in there.

WaitrosePigeon · 23/10/2016 10:50

Since 2009, love it Grin

SilverDragonfly1 · 23/10/2016 10:53

Clingfilm is a total pain to wrap anything in. Save your marriage with a roll of freezer bags ;)

Thecatmademedoit · 23/10/2016 10:57

My DP does this.

I bought sliced, cooked roast chicken slices for sandwiches for work.

I had ONE sandwich from it and come to make another the next morning and it's gone.

Apparently he and the dog had a "Scooby snack" and I can't be mad because the dog loved it. Hmm Angry

I even specifically said that it was for work! Gah!

Allalonenow · 23/10/2016 11:08

Buy economy ham for him, put in the fridge where he will easily find it, but buy naice ham for yourself and hide it away at the back of the veg drawer.
Then both of you are happy, he can eat as much dried out badly wrapped ham as he wants and you've got your succulent well wrapped ham when you need it.

Chinks123 · 23/10/2016 11:14

No ham since 2009 Grin DP does this with cheese, ham, bacon etc. I always come home to shrivelled food I have to then throw away Hmm His worst offences for me though are leaving the bread packets and cereal boxes open so they go stale Angry

Davros · 23/10/2016 11:21

Having read selections if this thread out to DH he now feels vindicated as it's "normal" behaviour Shock
