To think if you don't have enough sweets for the whole class you shouldn't hand them out

Apparently, DD's teacher handed out sweets to the class today. The whole class except DD as she was last and the teacher had run out. DD also seems to think the teacher had saved one for themselves
Sounds so ludicrous I don't know whether to believe her although she insists it's true.

I would find that very hard to believe if my daughter told me that - and she (to my knowledge!) doesn't make things up!

If my 6yo dd told me that I would be 99% sure she was fibbing.

She's complaining a lot about problems at school. There have been a few issues with how the school are handling problems, a lot of children leaving etc.
And this is a new teacher so I don't really know what they're like.
But still! It sounds too unbelievable.
Makes me wonder what is going on at school and how much of DD's complaints of being left out, not wanting to tell teachers, claiming she's told teachers but they don't do anything etc is true.
And if she's lying then why? Maybe for the attention from me? I don't want to accuse her of lying but I don't want to ask the teacher about it either, it sounds so silly.

She might not be fibbing but I doubt the teacher intentionally decided to be cruel. Do you think the teacher is like that?

Perhaps you could make a list of all the complaints, including the sweets, and ask the teacher about all of them. Say you're worried she has a truth problem and want to know what she's making up and what she isn't.

I very much doubt it!
Although, if it was me, I'd try and sort out some other sort of 'treat' if I'd accidentally miscounted and only realised when I got to the last one. And possibly mention it at pick up as I'd expect a KS1 child to be a bit put out/upset.

I think the sweets sounds unfortunate but accidental.

We've a lot going on and it is quite feasible it all really stems from trying to get some extra attention from me.
She's been having the odd melt down/tantrum too which isn't like her.

I doubt she is, I can't imagine why a teacher would.
But, there do seem to be a lot of problems at the moment with pastoral care so I don't know what to think.
Apparently DC1 upset another child so much last year the parents were called and the child was sent home 'sick', but told their parents what had happened. Nothing said to DC1. I only know because the parent (thankfully kindly!) told me about it.
Things like that do make me wonder tbh.

Dd told me once that miss x didnt let her go for lunch and she was STARVING i phoned up to check she had indeed gone for lunch . Not a clue why she made up such an elaborate lie was unlike her. Speak to school about her behaviour i doubt the teacher was giving out sweets to everybody and not your dd.
