3 months ago my gp said that he would refer me for psychology after a neurologist said that i have psychological scarring from having guillain barre syndrome. couple of weeks ago i checked with the psy dept at local hospital cos had no appt through (this isn't the first time this has happened since was ill in the summer) and no referral letter had been recd from gp. so go to see him last week "oh no" he says, he had compeltely forgotten to do the referral and said would do it as a matter of urgency and fax it to psych dept. 9 DAYS LATER i ring psy again still nothing, ring gp "oh yes" it will be with the secretary next week for the letter to be done and then sent off. am i the only person that thinks this is just bl**dy slack on his part, esp as he knows what a hard time have had over past 15 months with health difficulties...

this is shite and tell him i said so. i would complain officially.

colette · 09/02/2007 16:05

Hattiecat - I would complain in writing hope someone advises on the best way to complain officially. Change Doctors after he has carried out what he said he would do. Good Luck

you're right, i do need to change docs, but as he knows the history, feel really daunted at having to start all over again with another one. apparently he's going on holiday from today, so who knows whether it will get done or not. think i'll chase again next week...
