To get 'fuck off and park elsewhere' signs made and stick them on these cars

So sick of not being able to park anywhere near my house.

There is a block of flats being built 2 doors down from me and the twatting builders keep parking infront of the houses as soon as anyone moves off. I'm having to park in different streets.

I've complained a coup,e of times to the foreman, and he says he keeps telling them not to do it, but it's not bloody working is it!

I have a disabled child, and after school it's a right chore getting him in the house if we have to walk from a different street.

It's making me irrationally pissed off. I think the signs, glued to their windscreens might just do the trick!

Why doesn't he have a blue badge? Shock I have a disabled DS who's an adult and if he didn't have a blue badge I know he'd fight for one.

MrsKilminster · 18/10/2016 10:24

There's no guaranteed parking on my road either. It's annoying when I can't get a space on my street but there's nothing I can do about it and I just suck it up. You have no right to complain and I can't understand why you didn't get a blue badge ages ago. You can't blame the builders either - if I was one of them and found one of your abusive signs on my windscreen, I'd just tear it up.

GabsAlot · 18/10/2016 10:24

sorry youre having trouble but if its a public road nothing u can do

my friend just moved into a house share on a new build-the owners all insist noone parks in front of thier house even thought its a public road with no markings-not the same i know but it does smack of snobbery

dodobookends · 18/10/2016 10:29

Maybe try and find out if the developer is signed up to the Considerate Constructors Scheme. If they are, then their workers shouldn't be making a nuisance of themselves and annoying the neighbours by doing this.

Note3 · 18/10/2016 10:34

I feel some of your pain OP. I have a young baby and two small children. It's infuriating and stressful to come home and realise there's nowhere to park because out of around 15 spaces, 10 are occupied by strangers cars. We have a small no of houses in our road and parking should be plentiful but it's not!

One family in a road adjacent have 4 cars and a transit between two adults and these are always parked in our road.

Irritates us sooo much but as DH and i keep reminding ourselves, if they pay the ins, tax and MOT then they have as much right as us.

Have felt like crying sometimes when baby screaming, children tired, loads to carry and then no spaces to park.

Lweji · 18/10/2016 10:34

You could lobby and campaign for residents parking. Would you be happy to pay for it?

alleypalley · 18/10/2016 10:39

I was also going to say see if they are part of a considerate builders scheme.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 18/10/2016 10:53

Builders are such inconsiderate arses.

taytopotato · 18/10/2016 11:04

We have this problem as well.

Can you complain to the Parish Council? Our Parish Council held several meetings with representative of the building company -Barrats- . Our road has been cleared of cars following complaints but the Parish Council would continue to monitor.

WaitrosePigeon · 18/10/2016 11:05

Builders are such inconsiderate arses

Some are yes. Just some some cars.

WaitrosePigeon · 18/10/2016 11:06

Just like some cars

PoisonousSmurf · 18/10/2016 11:08

No one has a right to park in front of their house. But some areas are more prone to...Ahem...vandalism!

llangennith · 18/10/2016 11:12

I'd be pissed off too.

TheNaze73 · 18/10/2016 11:13

Couldn't enough of you group together, contact your local councillor & explore the possibility of a residents permit scheme?

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 18/10/2016 11:15

How are some cars arses, Waitrose? Or any cars indeed?

Jaxhog · 18/10/2016 11:17

ThatGingerOne - damn, I didn't know that. It does seem quite a popular thing to do though.

SirChenjin · 18/10/2016 11:20

YANBU - and just because you can (legally) do something doesn't mean you should. They are being prize idiots - esp as I suspect no-one in your street would employ them for future building jobs now, or recommend them to others

KERALA1 · 18/10/2016 11:35

We are also a little cul de sac, used as free hospital parking. Before residential parking my friend arrived home with screaming baby, toddler and grocery shop. Nowhere to park. She parked outside her house to unload entirely blocking. Freeloading parking woman huffing and puffing that she couldnt get out. My friend said tough you park here you take the rough with the smooth I am not moving until I am unpacked and I am not rushing. Maybe do that a few times. Woman ended up having to help her unload Grin

rollinghedgehog · 18/10/2016 11:52

PENGUIN BOLLARDS!

Sorry, got a bit overexcited there! Grin

bigbluebus · 18/10/2016 12:05

Whilst I agree that if the vehicles are taxed and insured they can legally park on the road where they are parking, I think the circumstances are slightly different from the usual MN neighbours/commuters parking threads.

Site developers should be considerate of the residents in all developments - even if they don't sign up to the 'considerate construction' scheme. If there is easily available parking for them to use a short distance away then they should use it and leave the other spaces available for residents. Presumably the site manager agrees with this if he has already said he will have a word with the builders about it. Check out their Plannning Consent on the Council website and see if it mentions anything about their terms of operation. Write to the developer's head office explaining why this is a pain in the arse (particularly re your disabled son and the elderly neighbour) and that you have already spoken to the site manager and things haven't improved.

I passed a building site yesterday and noticed it had a large sign on the fencing which stated "no construction vehicles to park on the road" and the road had no yellow lines or parking restrictions, so any cars/vans could have legally parked there if they chose to.

madmomma · 18/10/2016 12:27

Yabu I'm afraid. Understandable but being shitty about it won't help.

Gottagetmoving · 18/10/2016 12:33

Can you photograph the offenders and show it to the foreman, perhaps naming and shaming might help?

Offenders? Parking legally?

SirChenjin · 18/10/2016 12:46

The foreman has already asked them not to do it but it appears that some of are sticking 2 fingers up at him - perhaps a photo of the offenders might help him target his requests.

GinThief · 18/10/2016 13:40

Our local blue badge scheme also states you need high rate mobility but it also has a medical form that the GP can pleed your case on...I was so nervous renewing as I no longer get high rate with PIP but I have kept my blue badge. Might be worth looking into? Good luck!

ALemonyPea · 18/10/2016 14:14

I've just come back from taking my sister in law to and from a day centre, parked miles away again and when walking to my house the builders in their cars were looking and laughing at me Angry.

I don't want to be the moody cow along the road who moans at everything. I'm going to have to complain again though, and this time if it's not sorted I'll take it higher.

All the other cars from residents are away during the day as everyone works. There are no parking issues after 4.

I'm not asking to be able to park outside my house, but at least in the actual road would help.

As I've said, it's stressful brining my son home after school and having to make sure he doesn't dive into the road or cross it without me being in arms reach.
