So I was putting out new stock at work today when this appeared. We were all busy discussing how we weren't a big fan of the packaging and had never heard of a goat milk based baby formula when a colleague pointed out the price!!!!!

I said I would consult the wise ones of mumsnet to find out if there is a special reason as to why this is so bloody extortionate - a quick Google just found that it was possibly good for babies intolerant to cows milk. I am a bit Hmmat the whole thing.

Deathandtaxes that did make me chuckle!

Thank you everyone for explaining to us why people might choose it over prescribed/alternative formulas, I knew someone on here would be able to tell me why!

But completely agree with a PP - I feel like they're taking advantage charging that much when it's predominantly only used by people as a last resort rather than out of choice! I presume because they're the only ones offering it they can get away with it. Seems odd that it would cost so much more than other brands.

Just as an aside - I wasn't suggesting people wouldn't go without for their children, we had to spend more on buying DS pre mixed formula because he couldn't keep down powdered, I was just completely ignorant as to why other alternatives weren't suitable instead!
