Ok I admit it ,
I'm feeling bored/nosey and have entered a dream state (you know, where u start daydreaming of something you don't have). Thought it would be more fun to read other's treats aswell, and others may enjoy the thread too.

So, just wondering what everyone loves buying themselves that they think is a luxury, and if you don't mind saying, what is your disposable income ?

I'll start
Disposable income - £400 (part time job for a student with debt, so is any of it really disposable ? Confused )
Luxury treat - High end makeup and Moroccan Argan oil. Haha not the best extravagance but dream of treating myself to some bags Wink

Another here with apparently little disposable income - after I have put a bit away for the car each month and something aside for Christmas/birthdays and something aside for home related emergencies or vet bills I end up with about £100 to spend on anything not food/bills/petrol related - so this covers haircuts (twice a year) new clothes or makeup - (essentials like cleanser, moisturiser and foundation - the rest I get for birthday and make it last) , dentist, nights out(blue moon events!), stuff for kids at uni/college etc

CatThiefKeith · 13/10/2016 14:46

Was about £1000 per month, now down to £750 as have treated myself to a weekend vehicle fairly recently.

I try to save some, and the rest goes on clothes, clubs for dd, socialising etc.

saltededamummy · 13/10/2016 14:50

About £3k but we save it, when we don't spend it.

Ghostqueen · 13/10/2016 14:51

£100 is disposable.

I don't have anything really expensive as I love bargain hunting!

JaneAustinAllegro · 13/10/2016 15:00

luxuries - the kids and their school fees / dancing lessons / riding lessons. I went for a facial this week and may take that up as a regular hobby instead of botox...

Sparklesilverglitter · 13/10/2016 15:02

We are lucky enough to not have a mortgage anymore, so after we pay our few bills and put money in savings we have a fair amount left over.

My luxuries are;
M&S food shop
Being able to just go out with the baby and have a coffee and cake in little coffee shops
Seeing clothing in a shop I like and just being able to buy them
Good quality red lipstick (I change brands all the time)

Just being able to treat ourselves really without worrying

pregnantat50 · 13/10/2016 15:02

zero...always eat into my overdraft (£250) so no disposable, hence no holidays, treats, meals out etc :(

RomanticWalksToTheFridge · 13/10/2016 15:05

We seem to use up all ours on mortgage, school fees etc! But a few months ago I started putting £400.00 a month into a separate account called my 'holiday fund' and have made cutbacks elsewhere (on wine mostly). It leaves my account by DD and it is amazing how we have adapted to the 'loss'. Hoping to go on a proper holiday next summer. :)

MrsB1985 · 13/10/2016 15:06

I'm pretty low maintenance so not much at all on makeup and skincare.
I like clothes but no longer like shopping - average £200/month between husband and I on clothes (variable depending on season!).

Most money goes to savings tbh! But also have a weekend away (nice hotel or glamping) with husband every month and a nice meal out.

Disposable income circa £8000-8500/month.

Disposable income - 0

Luxuries - none

Pandsbear · 13/10/2016 15:10

Disposable - as in just for DH & I - probably about £200 per month for both (not each). My luxuries are coffee with friends, skin lotions and potions as I can't really wear makeup anymore. If I had more disposable cash there are loads of things I would love to spend it on. But I don't!

Whathaveilost · 13/10/2016 15:11

Travel i am to go abroad at least once every 6 weeks even if its only to Europe and for 2 nights minimum.

Gigs.and cinema. Minimum of one of each a week ( go to gigs and cinema when im away as well)

Afternnon tea. Love doing this with my friends.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 13/10/2016 15:12

Disposable income: £100 to £200 per month depending on where the quarterly bills fall.
Luxuries: books, take away tea/coffee, drinking in pubs

AdoraBell · 13/10/2016 15:21

Eat is the Dyson hairdryer good? DD1 wants it, but she's 15 and I'm too bloody tight the fork out for it Grin

My luxuries are good coffee and Hotel Cholate/ Lindt chocolate. Disposable income is about £2.50 after the chocolate bill...

mypropertea · 13/10/2016 15:22

Mine is swallowed by growing kids cloths but according to the spread sheet we should be up £80.

I used to have a horse, you don't know poverty till you have a horse :)

puglife15 · 13/10/2016 15:30

About £300 but about to be much less (no longer paid on mat leave)

Unnecessary food is my weakness. I spent £16 on expensive snacks for a train journey the other day. I also like buying nice kids clothes and kitchen gadgets.

If we had more £, I'd buy more expensive holidays, a bigger car, a better shower, really expensive pillows, a cleaner three times a week and a weekly massage.

BowieFan · 13/10/2016 15:31

I feel really guilty saying our disposable income is about £4000 per month. We just had the luck to buy in a shit part of town that has become nice, the mortgage is low and almost paid off and we didn't have student loans to pay back as I'd finished my degree by the time they came in.

Our luxuries are a nice takeaway once a month or so, a cinema card for me and the kids each (DP isn't here enough to get full use) and I am big into baking and sewing, so I spend money on that. DP's hobby is his motorbike and restoring old cars/bikes, so he spends some money on that. We save about £1500 per month as well but we usually dip into that for things like holidays or big purchases like cars (although we won't need to now as I bought a newish car last year and DP got one due to work).

nilbyname · 13/10/2016 15:37

Meals out
Nice wine
Clothes, shoes
Pricey shampoo
Home delivery shopping

About 1-2k left after the eseentials. I'm awful with money and stick my head in the sand.

HermioneJeanGranger · 13/10/2016 15:42

After rent, bills and food, about £500 disposable a month. Half gets saved, the rest goes on cinema, pub, meals out, clothes etc.

Anything that's left the day before payday also goes into savings, so none of it "carries over" as spends into the next month.

Strokethefurrywall · 13/10/2016 15:42

We have a large disposable income but there isn't much to buy here that we don't already have.
We're waiting for our house to complete so will be dropping a small fortune on furnishings but my luxuries are high end skin care and make up, keratin for the hair, I'll be getting botox in the next few months once the visiting surgeon makes his appearance, gadgets mainly for the house, and we eat out a lot.

Next year we'll probably indulge in more useless indulgences once we don't need to put money aside for the house but both DH and I are relatively sensible even when we don't want to be!

Funny how before we had kids we didn't think of dropping eye watering amounts on watches or jewelry but since they've come along they seem to bring with them a little voice in our heads that says "oh you can't spend that, you should put it aside for the future" - sodding angel on my shoulder has overtaken the devil!

Fairylea · 13/10/2016 15:45

We have about £200 a month each to spend as we wish. Dh saves his and spends it all on clothes from Asos and topman, I spend mine on lunches out, bits and bobs of make up and the occasional splurge on Amazon for books and dvds. I'm not really a clothes person and if I need something I'll buy it from tesco or sainsburys. Dh is much more into "stuff" than me!

PNGirl · 13/10/2016 15:46

Personally about £800 left from wages. I try and save about half; the rest goes on clothes, a couple of takeaways a month, a couple of meals out a month, and holidays (we go around twice a year - we don't have children so were able to do Florida in November for £800 each inc. unlimited park tickets for a week, and we're doing a few nights in Amsterdam next week). I don't buy expensive makeup or hair products - used to have a Lush habit but they got too expensive and too preachy.

I only buy a few things per year that cost over £100, so a bag, or some decent hair straighteners, or a tablet.

Spice22 · 13/10/2016 15:46

I'm loving this - more motivation to push forward with this year !

Being able to travel often would be in my list once I had enough to do so.

Disposable income, probably about 2k. 700 split between me and my wife for spends, 400 into share scheme, 400 into savings, we probably spend about 500 a month on stuff, be that things for the house, diy & days out.

Our mortgage is 1k, council tax 180, gas and leccy 130, food is about 400 a month and another 200 on other bills (phone, tv, broadband etc)
