To feel slightly irritated every time I hear 'Marmite - you either lover it or hate it'?

I quite like Marmite, but we don't bother buying it. If I'm offered it, I might say yes depending on what the other options are. I can't be the only one. It's great branding, I suppose.

i dont think i have ever really had it its not something i would buy the special edition walkers crisps are nice though.

Idliketobeabutterfly · 13/10/2016 16:54

Pretty indifferent here

RiverTam · 13/10/2016 16:54

Interesting, I don't know anyone who just thinks it's OK.

But it's entered common parlance now so I reckon were stuck with it, like it or not!

fruitpastille · 13/10/2016 16:57

Bovril is way better. I can just tolerate Marmite when there is such a small amount it's practically invisible. So I couldn't say I hate it.

satsumasunrise · 13/10/2016 16:59

I agree op, I think it's just ok.

miffy29 · 13/10/2016 17:30

All this talk about it and now I want some. But not that much.

Sure? Lovely thick sliced white toast and an unecessary amount of butter? Absolutely certain?

Theoretician · 13/10/2016 18:01

I think Bovril is ground up cows, whereas Marmite was originally a by-product of beer production. I'm not vegetarian, but I'd rather eat beer than unidentifiable parts of cows.

Theoretician · 13/10/2016 18:05

Actually there's nothing that bad in Bovril, but Marmite does have nicer associations.

myusernamewastaken · 13/10/2016 18:14

I love Marmite....i have it on decent granary bread...its gorgeous

ChocomelandRinglings · 13/10/2016 20:48

I love Marmite - have eaten it at least once a day since I was tiny, so that's about 54 years....

I really do take it on holiday with me. I'm not a fussy eater in any way, but I do love my Marmite Grin

hidingwithwine · 13/10/2016 20:55

As far as I know people do either love it or hate it. I detest it, even the smell of it makes me boak.

Wordsalad · 13/10/2016 21:04

I also love Marmite. It's great on granary toast with beans, scrambled eggs with cheese, and loads of ketchup. I was in a bit of a panic this morning and went into tesco on the way home to get a spare jar just in case. It does have vitamin B12 which apparently vegemite doesn't.

BinRaidingRaccoon · 13/10/2016 21:42

My crap marmite joke: Marmite, but Pa won't.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 13/10/2016 21:49

I love marmite; cold crisp toast, butter and lots of marmite. Food of the gods!

Work has individual marmite sachets which are heart shaped. I love them.

I must admit, I did go out and buy a large jar today. Both ds2 and I eat it on toast most mornings so can't be without.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 13/10/2016 23:30

I'm firmly on the fence: won't buy it, but might have it of someone offered it to me on toast.

WindyCat · 14/10/2016 01:06

Sometimes I love it on white toast, other times I can't even think about it.

What I don't understand is who buys all the marmite, or baked beans or tomato ketchup branded Christmas presents in places like Boots (and BHS used to always have them too). I've never bought one, and never will but I bet there are loads around again this year.

Liiinoo · 14/10/2016 01:30

Of all the products that didn't need free publicity Marmite must be way up there, but for some reason of all the gazillion things Unilever produce Marmite is the one news stories have focussed on. Unilever will be laughing all the way to the bank.
