So I have the Hush Tara dress in burgandy , and am a size 8. I wear this with black tights , sturdy boots and a scarf/wooly jumper and coat combo. Asked DP the other day if he liked the way I dressed and he said he'd rather I didn't wear this dress in the day as it was rather provocative ! I'm a mum to a busy crawling and almost walking baby so am on my hands and knees almost as much as I am trying to wipe paint and glue off me, so hardly man hunting at playgroups!
He said it would be more appropriate in the evening for dinners out etc. AIBU to either a)tell him to sod off, b)LTB or c) just wear it anyway?!

X post with ThirdTurd that's exactly how I feel. Steam coming off my keyboard typing that, it really bugs me!! Angry

This is hilarious - 0people calling the poor bloke controlling.

OP asked his opinion and he gave it. Nothing controlling about that.

Had she come along and said she bought a new dress and the first time she wore it he made an unprompted comment and insisted she take it back you may have a point.

Either way, if I wore something my wife didn't like or didn't think suited me I would want here to tell me (and she has) so I could then make an informed decision if I want to continue to wear it or not.

ThirdTurd · 13/10/2016 13:42

Moob*

She asked for his comments on the styling (scarf and boots) not on whether it was 'provocative' or whether he would prefer she didn't wear it.

LagunaBubbles · 13/10/2016 14:21

Well without the brand how would one be able to judge whether or not it was provocative?

I suppose for me that's irrelevant if you liked the dress - you can wear what you like, you dress to please yourself, not him.

MLGs · 13/10/2016 15:41

Also hate the word provocative for reasons stated by pps.

He "prefers women more covered" does he? So if I prefer men who wear balaclavas, flip flops, Spiderman outfits or whatever does that have any bearing on whether they should wear those things?

Moob he didn't just answer her question. She asked his opinion on the style/ style. He answered with a comment that's objectively offensive because it suggests women should cover up or be "fair game" for whatever action they "provoke" in men.

HarleyQuinzel · 13/10/2016 15:49

Yes moob the poor bloke, I bet he has to watch what he wears too just in case women think he's too provocative.

It looks fine OP, I bet you look lovely.
