To jump up and down on artisan foodstuffs. In big boots?

I'm not sure exactly at what point the word artisan made me quietly twitch with violence. But it does.

We have an artisan bakery, which sells exactly the same stuff as Greggs exactly the same. But it's artisan and 35% more on average.

I've just had an email from Waitrose. At this rate even their Essential range tampons will be artisan.

If the word artisan is written on it I can tread on it repeatedly, yes?

Love that word 'artisanal' (artis-anal). Grin

Ah the artisans so beloved of Radio 4s Food Programme. Generally the format is take something that has been around for years, produce it in a Cotswold kitchen or a Shoreditch shipping container, make about 5 items a day and call it artisan.
My husband and I own a small food manufacturing business and, believe me, it is nothing like the guff spouted by these people!
NB it also helps if you have rich parents or a partner with a good job so you don't have to concern yourself with profits, running costs, margins etc!

herreh-tarj - brilliant. I'm happy to start spreading that as fact too.

There's an "artisan" bakery chain in North Yorkshire. £3+ for a pigging titchy loaf of bread that's probably rock hard by the time it's been on the windowsill all day.

You have all got artisan bathroom/ kitchen piping and electric wiring, maybe " look at my lovely artisan-connected U-bend" will become a thing.

HoneyDragon · 12/10/2016 19:11

I have no idea why it is such a supposed buzzword in English seeing you have perfectly good words of your own that won't make you sound quite so twattish

I love you Madam for that

I'm with YoungGirl - all I see when I see 'artisanal' is anal.

RubbishMantra · 12/10/2016 19:14

And nothing's covered. Not even with fancy pants glass cloches. No wonder it's stale.

Give me a good old par-baked french stick. Bung it in the oven, voila! Fresh, hot crusty bread in minutes.

In fact, that's what I'm having tonight, with avacado, prawns and pink sauce. (Inspired by recent Avocadogate) I bet sales of avocados have soared this week. Subliminal advertising?

I've got aCo-Op opening over the road soon. It'll sell ham, I think I'll spread rumours an artisanal deli is opening Grin

I looked at some leather handbags in a local shop and was about to buy one that was about 200quid when I saw the stitching was coming undone. I told the owner and she looked at me with pity and said 'it's artisan'.

GaryGilmoresEyes · 12/10/2016 19:35

A pub in town makes hand thrown artisan pizzas.
I will never go in there, ever.

cozietoesie · 12/10/2016 21:14

Does artisan incorporate organic and whole food or are they different? (And old-hat, perhaps?)
