To ask friends and family to drive 10 mins from church to christening venue..?

We literally cannot find any venue available near us - not that there was much of a choice to begin with.
Family have already booked flights over for it so the date can't be changed. Silly us for assuming finding a venue wouldn't be a problem. Confused

All will be driving to the church anyway. Is 10 mins drive to the venue too far?

Sounds fairly standard to me.
I'd just make sure that clear directions to both church and venue are provided, and ask people to tell you if transport will be a problem.

(And not all churches have church halls. The church we had our DC christened in has a church "hall" that's maybe about 3m x 3m and little more than a glorified office)

As a non car owner it annoys me at weddings when you're supposed to make your way between venues without advice on how to do it without a car. At our wedding we asked friends to lead a group on public transport so people who were not familiar with the local area did not get lost.

No problem, as long as people know in advance and maybe consider anyone who doesn't have transport and see if people can give someone who'll maybe struggle a lift.

Thanks ladies. Going to visit the only venue that's available on that date today. It's about 10-15mins away.
Tbh, unless there are rats running round the place or they ask for an obscene amount of money, we're going to have to go with it. Fingers crossed it'll be half decent.
