Having my daughters party and want to spend as little as possible

Manged to get all the party but cups Ect for 25p wilko are having a sale 😬

The hall will be £35 for 2.5 hours
and a bouncy castle would be £50
Wondering weather I should bother the hall has a toddle group that I attend and said I can use all the diddy cars and scooters for free

So I was thinking nit to get a bouncy castle

I have made a photo booth they put there head in and parents cantankerous a photo and was also thinking of doing traditional games like bob for apples Ect and dh came up with a fab idea of buying temporary kids tattoos I can get 50 for £2 and he will dress up as a deck and and put them in the kids like a tatto parlour.

My sister thinks I am being a bit tight not having a bouncy castle and the kids will be board

I didn't say there was! Just saying its not a necessary part of a party.

Fwiw I had a bouncy castle and games. The bouncy castle was my security blanket because I was terrified of running the games. But the kids liked the games best!

Mummyoflittledragon · 09/10/2016 13:14

Will you have enough from friends/parents to help serve the food etc? You will struggle to run the games and dish out the food/drinks with lots of children. Otherwise, party sounds ace.

Definately nothing wrong with it! Just saying its not a necessary part of a party.

Bollocks- excuse my multiple posts. Kids decided to turn the PC off at the wall just as I pressed send so I wasn't sure if it'd gone up or not!

Re pirate games, we went to a pirate party in the summer and they had:

A treasure hunt (choc coins are out for Christmas in Aldi already)

Some sort of pin the tail type game but involving x marks the spot. Can't fully remember tbh.

Duck duck goose but it was pirate pirate SHARK!

suspiciousofgoldfish · 09/10/2016 14:29

Sorry no advice, but I have thoroughly enjoyed this thread and your party sounds brilliant!

I did wonder what your DH had agreed to dress up as Grin

Absolutely no need for a bouncy castle. They're noisy anyway.

Just got back from wilko

Picked up the badges for 5p each the sword for 50p and the paddling pool for £1.50 all reduced may fill it with shredded paper and they can dig for gold coins

O.M.G Paddlingpool full of pirate treasure? This is going to be the best pirate party ever!

GingerIvy · 09/10/2016 15:52

Excellent idea with the paddling pool treasure trove! I'm sure the party will be great fun for them!

HairyToity · 09/10/2016 16:39

My daughter much prefers organised games to bouncy castle. The bouncy castle parties are the ones she likes least!

TeenAndTween · 09/10/2016 16:47

Presume invites already out? (If not I suggest you knock an hour off the party.)

Games

  • musical statues / musical bumps with 2 or 3 out each time to go faster
  • a 'corners' game, when music stops go to one corner, one corner out each time until only 1 left
  • pass the parcel
  • giant parachute and kids run underneath

Party dances?

Print out colouring sheets and have a colouring table

Good Luck!

No it's at the end of November I am just madly orgnized

I think you may be correct 2.5 half an hour to much

When DD was 4/5/6 parties in halls tended to be 2 hours. I used to stay as often I didn't think there was adequate supervision, plus DD was quite clingy.

In my view 2 hours is 15-30mins too long and the last 30mins often got quite chaotic. Less is more I think. (Especially if you are organising it yourself). However obviously loads of people think 2hrs is fine. We did parties at home and 90mins was quite enough for me!
