Coldplay concert in Frankfurt

DH wants to go. He has seen them on every tour in the last 6-8 years, including this year. There are Cardiff tickets available but that's midweek. We live in London. Frankfurt is on a weekend and we could do the whole mini-break thing. He wants to get standing tickets because the atmosphere is better. I have agreed to go.

I can't stand Coldplay. I give him the hard stare if he starts playing it at home or in the car, particularly as he always has music very loud and has plenty of opportunities to do that when he's on his own without inflicting it on me.

AIBU to agree to go with him? I fear I will cramp his style massively as he will want to dance like mad and sing along with everything and I will want to wait in the hotel with a book. He knows how much I dislike Coldplay and has still asked me. I have never been to any of their concerts in the UK with him.

You have my sympathy. Dancing to Coldplay, how the christ does that go.

Tell you what OP, give a watch and if you really think you wouldn't enjoy it, don't go.

Oh Wannabe! I had forgotten all about Secret Affair! Thank you! I'm off to you tube now Grin

I like metal but I fucking love Coldplay.

Cock rock interspersed with Chris Martin's mopey bleating is what they'd play if they ever wanted me to crack under interrogation. I could probably cope with the psychological torture of the metal, but first Coldplay song I would inform on my entire family if they promised to turn it off before the chorus.

I loved Brian Eno's first solo records and the first two Roxy Music albums, but knowing that he is out there aiding them on their quest to make even more shitty records makes me feel queasy when ever I hear them.

How are you finding the tickets? We had the same thought last night about FF, looked at the website but they were all gone!

If he goes to their other gigs on his own, surely he can go to the actual gig on his own and you can enjoy the rest of the weekend in Frankfurt together? I often go to gigs on my own and I prefer it to dragging along someone who isn't a fan as I feel responsible for whether they are enjoying themselves - and, if it's standing or unallocated seating they obviously aren't as keen as I am to get there early and get a good spot!

Having said that, if you do agree to go, there's no point being grumpy about it and spoiling it for both of you - Either don't go or go with good grace.

Ah I see they've added another date Smile

Hold on! You don't like music fitbit Shock I love coldplay but I can understand others dislike of certain music BUT how can you not like music. Are you human?!! Grin

YANBU - Coldplay are awful. There should be a UN convention against their music being played in public places. Torture!

This Radiohead fan would LTB, if a DP even expressed an interest in dreary old Clodplay.
