I went sick seeing that, and right on the road as well. Thank God nothing was coming.
Things could have very easily been a whole lot worse
. From the way she fell. Its a miracle she didn't break her neck.

I remember falling out my buggy. I fell out down steps as well. Used to accusingly remind my mum whenever we passed the place for years. Grin

I'm a great believer in proper reins (the type you can strap into D rings) as well as buggy straps, when they get to the age they can undo them.

switswoo81 · 07/10/2016 23:40

My dd can get her arms out under the straps so we had to buy the houdini strap to keep her in. It's just too dangerous.

Farmmummy · 07/10/2016 23:57

Argh I'm thinking of handcuffs right now witchend! Dd2 can escape the straps and reins now attempting to confuse her with padded things backwards over the clips. Also saving for the so-called escape proof car seats (apparently duct tape is frowned upon so they better be escape proof Hmm

I remember seeing a mum push a buggy with a two year old in over a crossroads as the traffic lights were changing from red to green - car came round the corner and she yanked the buggy back and the kid fell forward out of the buggy into the road. Fortunately the car missed the child but the mother then proceeded to shout at the child 😩

Ds is older and has an sn buggy. We don't strap him in ( unless he is having a meltdown or it is very busy) because we want to encourage him to walk but he wears reins and we hold onto the reins strap when pushing the buggy.

In dh role he often see X-rays of children with head injuries (he is medical), falling out of buggies is a real common cause of head injuries. As is letting you little one climb up their buggy when the buggy is parked up.
(Haven't watched the video btw).

Just to play devil's advocate...

In Aldi the other day I'm getting some milk, bread, cheese, not much. My eldest (4) is nearby waiting. My baby (who I swear is Houdini) is wiggling out of his straps. He does this weird straining thing and then kinda hooks his leg up. He's getting all kinds of tangled and I'm trying to get him back in. The woman at the till gets to my shopping and I say "just give me a sec, need to strap him in" (he's hanging out). She starts putting my stuff through, throws it so hard the bread slides on the floor. She says "I'm not waiting". So my baby escapes and I'm grabbing the groceries.

The person in front starts tutting and muttering to her friend about how useless I am. The guy behind is doing the same.

A few weeks ago my "strapped in tight" one year old got out so fast he launched himself onto the floor and had a huge lump. I got judged then.... I cried. I have tried literally everything.

Haven't watched the video so the guy could just be a moron mind!
