AIBU?

My son is 6.5

I'm in the bath.

He won't wipe his own arse and is currently begging me to do it for him.

25 minutes so far. I feel cruel. Apparently all I need to do is get out the bath wipe his bum and go back to my bath. (Different room)

Hmm that's funny, DP (ds dad) has dyspraxia and he struggles with some of those

Ds does I mean!

I think this is more common than people realize, because let's face it, who wants to admit that they are still doing it for a child older than 3 or 4.... It was a huge issue for my dd - she worried about getting it on her hands, etc - we eventually got there but it was a big drama. And she was older than 6.5... But she's always had lots of sensory issues.

I still wipe my 5, nearly 6 year old's bum. He's had a history of food allergies/ intolerance so the texture isn't the easiest to deal with for him. He can cope with it adequately enough at school, but tends to need the toilet at home. He's not the most coordinated child either. I'm also regularly bum wiping for a 3 year old sibling so it still feels fairly normal to me as I'm bum wiping anyway. It also saves half a roll of toilet paper.

I encourage him to start, then do a quality control finish.
