Should I? Am I being unreasonably vile?

Since starting work 4 months ago I have had 4 days off. I am feeling mighty pied off with work just lately - the complete lack of job satisfaction plus supervisors who encourage us to lie to customers so they won't have to do any work is getting to me big time. If we get stuck with any aspect of our work and ask the supervisors for help we are met by a glaring stare as if to say "ffs, why are you asking me this, you dumb btch" and then we are spoken to like sht.

Also, rather than having our own workstations (e.g. pc and phone system) people just choose where to sit everyday. This causes me problems. When I go in late once a week it is almost impossible to get a pc and as a consequence, i'm often marked late as the computer system monitors our start/finish times. Also sometimes the number of staff outweighs the workstations in the call centre and i'll get back from lunch to find i've been logged off my system and someone has taken my place, which means I have to trawl around looking for an unoccupied workstation which is nigh on impossible. If we go to a supervisor with the problem we are told to log someone else off and use their workstation which is crap for them as it is for me as it takes 10 minutes to log into the complex system.

I am so bothered by work lately and I'm bordering with the feeling of would it be unreasonable to have tomorrow off? I have been feeling under the weather and i'm totally and utterly p*ssed off with work to the point I could jack it all in if I didn't need the money.

Can they legally sack me if I had too much time off?

My god this job sounds awful and very disorganised!

You can be sacked for having too much time off if they can make a case for it being an 'unreasonable' amount of time.

They would have to give you a warning and a disciplinary meeting, in which you would be given the opportunity to have your say, with a witness (although must be a company employee).

But, realistically if they want to sack you they will, they can move straight to final warning and disciplinary meeting which could result in termination. If they wanted. You could appeal but generally this goes in the favour of the company, the law os a bit crap as really it is pretty hard for you to prove that the time off was reasonable.

If you are signed off sick though by the doctor, you cannot be sacked for that. They can make you redundant though of they want.

Terrible situation. I would suggest looking for something else. I really feel for you, i know what it is like to be in a job where they treat you like shit.

Unfortunately its very hard to try to get one over on them, and its often just easier to leave.

Good luck.

Look for something else, immediately. Until you've been there a year you have virtually no employee rights which means they can get rd of you pretty easily. I've worked in a similar environment and I know they think very little of dismissing staff. Get out now.

Sorry I can't be more cheery,

In my experience of call centres and supervisors things won't change. I would never work in one again.

Your probably on a 6 month contract, so yes they can sack you for been off sick, These jobs do make you sick. I would look for another job pronto before you ruin your work reputation with sick days.
