My friend has recently been on holiday to Thailand & I asked her to buy me an updated song pack for the Karaoke machine she bought for me in Thailand 18 months ago, aprox £25 for additional song pack. Love karaoke, but only used the machine twice as the song choices were a little obscure! She has phoned me tonight to say she couldn't get an updated pack but its ok as she has bought me a new karaoke instead, at the staggering cost of £200, yes £200!!!!! What's a girl to do??

*So your friend tried to help you, couldn't find exactly what you was looking for and went one better

She could have rung first true but least she tried.

Very ungrateful*

Are you for real?

Question: I asked my friend to pick me up a coffee in costa. Instead she picked me up a coffee machine and now wants me to pay for it. I don't want to. AIBU?

Response: Very ungrateful.

OP tell your friend you don't want it and she needs to bring it back because you aren't going to pay for it.

She can't return it, she called me from her sofa in the UK, I'm doomed to a month of beans on toast & karaoke!

You didn't ask for a new machine so you don't have to pay for it. She's an idiot to have bought it without checking

Zucker · 02/10/2016 22:46

Are we trekking to Thailand for karaoke machines these days then? I'm so behind the times.

ParForTheCourses · 02/10/2016 22:47

You are only doomed if you allow yourself to be.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 02/10/2016 22:49

She'll just have to sell it on!

"I'm sorry but I cant afford £200, I just wanted the pack not a whole machine."

Thats it.

She took it on herself to spend that money, and you have every right to refuse to take the item and repay her when you didnt want it in the first place. Lesson for her about checking before spending other peoples money for them.

bloodyteenagers · 02/10/2016 23:09

Tell her, well that's her problem. Tell her you asked for the cd not a new machine. Why the hell would you pay £200 for a machine that realistically if anything to it you couldn't take it the shop. And when you could easily pick one up for a lot less than £50 never mind £200.

bloodyteenagers · 02/10/2016 23:10

And what's wrong with decent speakers, youtube and a mic? Grin

LOL Grin

Yeah just tell your friend thanks but no thanks. I don't understand how so many people seem to think others are made of money. What on earth do you mean by a karaoke pack? I may be biased as DH is an occasional DJ with his own systems and stuff...but we can download stuff for ours? Also have a really old style karaoke machine that just runs CDs for in the house...

ShmooBooMoo · 02/10/2016 23:32

I reckon she's winding you up...

FrogFairy · 02/10/2016 23:38

Going off on a bit of a tangent, you could probably pick an old PS2 and a pile of sing star games for peanuts.

statetrooperstacey · 02/10/2016 23:44

Do you think she heard " can u pick me up an updated karaoke machine please because I can't use mine" ?

QueenLizIII · 02/10/2016 23:54

Well she can sell it on ebay.

Op if you have used your one twice, why dont you sell it too?
