To want DC to be able to throw lunch box leftovers in the bin

They bring them home everyday. Squashed bits of uneaten food and everything covered in yoghurt - bleurgh.

Apparently they are not allowed to chuck the rubbish in the bin at school and have to bring it home.

Is this so I can see what they've eaten? Or to stop school bins being filled up?

Either way, totally revolting by the time it's been sitting around til we get home at 6pm!

My dds school do not check their lunch. She regularly eats very little and comes home starving and screaming because I won't let her eat cereal 5 mins before tea. Well if you ate your lunch....

I have always put kids lunches in a box, saves leakages and mess and only have to wipe the bag out not scrub out crumbs. E.G I can get a box with sarnie, veg, fruit and biscuit in box and crisps and bottle all in the square bag.

All leftover food comes home as it costs the school to have bins emptied and reduces costs.

I wash and reuse plastic resealable bags its easy just to wash them with the dishes rinse them and leave open to dry.

Got these in HB not tesco.

Makes sense to me. How do parents know if lunch is being eaten or not?

DS has only just started school, sent him with a packed lunch once completely pointless waste of time, the only thing that he ate was a fruit winder. Not even a bite out the sandwich and he might have eaten a couple of grapes.
