To think that BT are a bunch of tw..s!

I think I am going to explode!

I put in an order with BT to transfer my broadband to them from Sky because, with Sky, we are only getting 0.6 mb download speed during the evening.

BT's customer service is crap and I'd prefer not to use them but we don't have any other providers in our area.

Everything was fine and I was told we would be connected yesterday. The hub would arrive by 6 pm.

Of course nothing arrived and on trying to contact BT I was put on hold for 20 minutes and then got cut off when they were supposed to be transferring me.

This happened again when I called back and then when I called back a third time I was told the department I needed was closed.

Called back again this morning and have now spent three hours being put on hold, then cut off numerous times as they try to transfer me to someone who can "help".

Eventually was told that another order had been placed but there seemed to be a problem and it would take them 15 working days to work out what the problem was and then they would contact me about connecting the broadband.

After repeating the situation to numerous BT staff I now seem to have been connected to someone who actually has a brain cell and he has told me that because we are in a "fibre to the property" area the system is automatically rejecting all applications that are for standard broadband and I will be contacted by another team to solve this. They are supposed to be calling me on Monday but I have a feeling that there will be multiple flying pigs before that happens!

AIBU to think that they could have told me this in the first place without me wasting three hours of my life and which I will never get back!!!!!!!!!!

Rant over and I think my blood pressure is now slowly going back down to normal!

*BT

I'm actually going through this but the other way around - I've left BT who I thought were great and am thing to switch to Sky. Except they can't connect me and have spend the last 3 weeks scratching their arse.

I'm without Netflix this weekend. Boooo.

Oh dear!, just a few issues. BT own the major distribution network in the UK and most all other providers have to run their services over their cables and infrastructure. Some however have what they term local loop unbundling means that they have their own equipment installed at BT's exchanges but still have to use BT''s copper cables to get to your house.

BT fibre, usually called infinity, uses the same phone lines and will normally run faster but a lot depends on where the local serving cabinet is. I have a friend who's exchange is fibre enabled but as shes so far far from the cabinet her speeds will be much the same as ordinary Broadband known as ADSL.

Virgin media do have a separate network and use a somewhat different tech to provide BB. They can be very fast up to 200 Meg but they do suffer from poor customer services like BT.

There are some radio based providers around usually out in county areas sometimes they can be a viable alternative too. One here up in Derbyshire.

another in Kent

East Anglia

One very worth dealing with is Zen internet they use BT 's infrastructure but are very good at kicking Openreach's arse if need be :)

Here.

The are a domestic and businesses provider and they also do land-line telephones and you can migrate your line away from BT they are a bit cheaper but they do have excellent customer service which is based in the peoples republic of old Lancashire too:)

Nowt wrong with that .

HTH.

Absolute shower of useless cunts. As others have said, they give zero fucks.

I'm glad I'm not alone.

The ironic thing is that we were with BT previously. We also live in a very rural area and although the speeds were not brilliant they were bearable (e.g only 5 minutes to download an episode of The Walking Dead instead of over an hour with Sky!)
We only changed to get a better TV package and because DP wanted Sky Sports. He is particularly pissed off with Sky because it takes hours to download stuff from the Playstation network!!! (I was going to attach the big grin emoji here but can't work out how to do it on my PC!)

Anyway, I've now been contacted by BT to say that we will be connected on the 17th October. I've also managed to get a number from them to try to speak to someone about waiving the fibre optic connection charge. I won't hold my breath but nothing ventured nothing gained.

Just to say that I've been out all day since posting. I've now re-read the thread and read some of it to DP.

It's certainly kept us entertained and I'll be e-mailing the CEO later so will let you all know the outcome.

They were on Rip Off Britain the other morning. They're that shite.

We had an engineer come to fit our fibre optic whatever fancy broadband thing the other day. He was a loveable geek who was embarrassed at the service they provide. He spent a considerable amount of time explaining the systemic failures within their processes which account for a lot of their shit customer service.

JeSuisUnChocoholic · 30/09/2016 20:09

leopardpuzzled Virgin used to be AMAZING but in the past six months or so they have started reducing speeds by huge amounts, especially at the weekend.

Justaboy · 30/09/2016 23:36

JeSuisUnChocoholic Interesting that can you say what BB package your on at all? I do know they clobber the slower ones a bit, the faster ones are unlimited well on the down on the upstream they do reduce them a bit if you've really caned the connection..

Justaboy · 30/09/2016 23:38

Banananananana Yes most all of the guys from Openreach are fine its just the management and them being an almost monopoly is the real problem!

Sunshineonacloudyday · 01/10/2016 03:17

I hate BT its only because they bought football why we went back to them. I hate them so much.

Queenbean · 01/10/2016 13:26

I think open reach may be the biggest twats in all of this

Sky have scheduled in an open reach call for 3 days after my account opened. Apparently instead of doing it then they scheduled it in for ONE MONTH later and can't change it.

Twat twat twatty twats. Although obviously sky are huge twats for dealing with the problem so badly.
