Aibu to want to take dd to the doctor

My dd has loads of rashes and so they kind of blur into one BUT the last couple of months she has had one around her face and today it's worse again.

I woke dh up to show him and suggest that I should take her to he docs but he is saying I am majorly over reacting and she's fine.

We are expecting a big delivery today so he would have to stay home if she had a doctors appointment as we don't know what time it's coming!

Aibu to think this bad enough to ask for an appointment?

I have tried various creams on her long term face issues but no luck and now I feel like it's bad enough to make a same day appointment.

Aibu or is dh?

wow I never ever ever ask my DH if we should take the dc to the docs, as my DH is not a medic in any shape or form or a doctor so how on earth would my DH know ??? Confused

You never ever take chances with rashes and yes whilst there is chance the rash is OK and shallow issue, its still skin which may be more susceptible to infection which can be extremely serious.
Dont ask or refer to your DH in future, always get babies checked out - always. No doctor minds at all, they clear the decks for them

Alright Humid Hmm surely she can ask the opinion of the other parentConfused
I wouldn't go dashing to the doctors about something I was unsure about that wasn't an 'emergency' without speaking to my DH if he was also in the house.

My DCs got a eczema type rash like this from eating tomatoes and citrus fruit when they were tiny. (They grew out of it) I would make a non-urgent Gp appt.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 28/09/2016 09:32

I would book an appointment for her. You say she's fine in herself but if it's something ongoing it is not overreacting - just because it isn't weeping and crusty doesn't mean she's entirely comfortable. Fwiw looks like eczema to me too and is already on her eyelid.

Sorry if it was suggested and I missed it, but pop to the chemist and get some aqueous cream. None of the creams you've mentioned are really suitable for eczema in a baby. Aqueous cream is light, unscented and can be used instead of soap. And it's cheap!

Oilatum is fab for child eczema if that is what it turns out to be!

seminakedinsomebodyelsesroom · 28/09/2016 09:45

I agree it looks like eczema and a visit to the drs is a good idea but unless she appears unwell or in distress it's probably not an emergency. Hope you find something to make it better.

If she otherwise seems ok - eating, drinking, wet nappies and alert - it might not be an emergency. That said, it's worth a call to your surgery. You might be able to request a telephone appointment, do they do that at your surgery? Do make an appointment, as she needs a review. However, if you're not sure if she needs seeing today, see what they think. With babies, it's better safe than sorry.

The reason I asked is because my son used to get a rash like that if he ate anything with tomato in. It wasn't an allergy as such, and he grew out of it, but it looked just the same.

Might be an idea to keep a food/rash diary. Don't eliminate anything, just see if there's a pattern

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 28/09/2016 11:25

I'd take a few pictures, try and reduce any "stuff" on her face...like a pp said...no wipes, damp cloth only, watch food/contact and make a routine appointment in a couple of weeks

if you do go they are more than likely going to say have you tried all that, so if you already have then you will be ahead of the game.

My DCs have had food allergies (and grown out of them). DS1 had eczema first, then came out in hives when we were weaning (milk allergy). DS2 had milder rashes and "burns" from tomatoes which also gave him nasty nappy rash very quickly.

Oilatum is great. We had it on prescription for DS1 at first, but it is available in supermarkets.

It might be worth keeping a food diary to identify any triggers, but don't change her diet yourself as that might hide the trigger.

It is worth a doctor's appointment. It took 3 visits to our GP for DS1 to get a referral to peadiatrics and the dietician, and that was after general eczema treatment. Given that his first major reaction me running in with him half-dressed and screaming out of his horrifically swollen face, it was clear that there was an issue!
