To ask about age gaps?

Ok so basically I'm 40 and single. A couple of disastrous dates and relationships later and I've realised I have feelings for someone I've know for a long time. Since I was a child basically.

The thing is he's 60, I've always been attracted to older men but never this much older than me.

So I'm just wondering, would I be unreasonable to pursue this, give it a chance? I really don't want to ruin a good friendship if things don't work out. Also, has anyone else had such a large age gap and has it worked out?

Farmmummy you've put it very eloquently. Love is love. And when you have it, it's everything.

I have a 20 year age gap with my DH. We met as adults. I knew from very early on that I liked him but spent the best part of three years fighting it/doing sod all about it/seeing other men. Why? Because I was convinced that the relationship couldn't work mainly as I was stupidly worried about others' reactions. What would my dad say? What would his family think of me? Would his children (grown up) reject him?

The daft thing is we've been together six years; married for four and the age gap just isn't an issue. I get on very well with his family and his children.

I can honestly say that now it's something I rarely think about day to day or impacts our relationship. It seems bizarre that something I made myself utterly miserable worrying about is a non-issue now.

I don't think the age gap matters! Go for it Smile

I

personally I couldn't date someone who was a family friend of my parents

Thank you all for your words of wisdom. We've decided to give it a go but keep it quiet just for now.

The way I see it, I've dated younger men, who would be ideal for me on paper, but I've not felt that tingly feeling from a text or a quick glance until now, I can't ignore that Smile
