But I'm frozen!

It's 19 deg here outside today.
I don't usually put the central heating on until 1st Nov (am down south so...) BUT I have 50 bags of logs in, so the woodburner will definitely be going on the colder evenings. I may be obsessively checking the forecast for a few cool evenings, Sunday is looking good for a fire Grin

Melibu mine loves snuggles luckily! She sleeps with her head on my chest buried under a duvet :)

Fluffsnuts · 27/09/2016 15:27

I also have an arbitrary October rule. I'm considering breaking it though! I'm sat here with a hoody, woolly socks and slippers on and still freezing.

Last night I had a second duvet on.

I might be coming down with something.

WhisperingLoudly · 27/09/2016 15:33

Mines on and it's 18c today, but we have a draughty, difficult to heat Georgian house so I'm not sure it's ever wise to turn the heating off.

DH constantly tells me to put a jumper on but I spent my childhood cold with a mother who role me to "out a jumper on" and I love being warm Smile

Willywolly · 27/09/2016 15:59

Someone in our house keeps turning it on 🤔 think it may be DS2s girlfriend.

Mine went on last night I was freezing wrapped up and ds2 who I swear is like a walking radiator actually put a top on and blanket announced he was cold so heating was on again . We don't do cold

AngelsWithSilverWings · 27/09/2016 16:42

We try to keep the heating off until November and like the challenge of seeing how far we can get into the month before we give in and switch it back on.

I'm in a sleeveless top and am quite comfortable but it is 19 degrees in my house right now.

We light the log fire if it gets cold in the evenings but can't see us needing that for a while.

SlinkyB · 27/09/2016 16:45

I put mine on for a couple of hours today. Was more to do with drying loads of washing than anything tho (Don't have a tumble drier and it was raining).

Whathaveilost · 27/09/2016 16:52

November is our aribarory point for heating.

However if the temperature plummeted to minus 6 degrees c I n August DH wouldn't think to put the heating on 'because it's August'. I have tried saying that if we get freak weather and it happens to be 20 degrees in December we still have to put the heating on 'because it's december' he never takes me on with that argument.

MoonStar07 · 27/09/2016 18:22

I opened the doors and let the heat in. Deffo was warmer outside

SweetChickadee · 27/09/2016 18:26

If it's cold I turn it on. I don't care what the calendar says and it'll be snowing in Oct

It's lovely and warm here during the day at the mo, but cold at night (2 degrees or so) so the heating goes on. (not UK)

Pengweng · 27/09/2016 18:27

I'm about to turn my heating on for the first time this year Normally do it on the first day of Autumn but i needed to put that silvery foil shit behind the radiators to reflect some heat back into the room and I've only just done that so tonight it is! Excited Grin

Skittlesss · 27/09/2016 18:28

I've been tempted today, but didn't. It feels too early!

takesnoprisoners · 27/09/2016 18:31

I opened the doors and it is much warmer now. I love curling up with a nice blanket and a book.

HellsBellsnBucketsofBlood · 27/09/2016 18:42

Yabu. Smile

Not until November

freebreeze · 27/09/2016 18:48

I think if it's feeling cold and damp outside, it's better for the house to warm it up and put the heating on, to avoid damp etc. Mine comes on at 19 degrees and I think there's about right. Also if the house is left unheated and gets cold throughout, it is less cost effective to heat it up from that point apparently.

mrsderbyshire · 27/09/2016 18:51

I've had the heating on to warm up DS coat this morning before the walk to nursery and for his pyjamas this evening after his bath .
It's freezing in Manchester

SparklesandBangs · 27/09/2016 18:53

I am guessing none of you are in the south east, we haven't got to jumpers yet or closed the Windows during the day, they are now closed at night. I'm in jeans today but colleagues were still in shorts or skirts no tights.

Hoping to keep the heating off for as long as possible as I always feel awful at first

MoonStar07 · 27/09/2016 23:23

Considering a hot water bottle

OP posts:
inchoccyheaven · 27/09/2016 23:37

I have put heating on just for couple of hours in morning as was so fed up with towels never drying after showers so at least now on heated towel rail they are. Thermostat is downstairs which stays very hot and therefore doesn't luck kick in until over 20 but upstairs is cold which is wrong way round somehow.

I have my fan on... Confused so I wouldn't!
