AIBU to want to shave my whole body daily?

Ok, tmi but here goes. Normally my plan is to use hair remover cream once a week on my legs, underarms and bits on the edges of a swimming costume. I plan to have eyebrows threaded once a fortnight.

What actually happens is that I say to myself 'it's too cold in the bathroom to stand still with all that gunk on me, and it's probably toxic', then I wear tights to work and shave underarms with a normal razor and don't go swimming. Eyebrows every couple of months.

As part of the new more put together me, I'm thinking I should just shave my legs and underarms in the morning daily in the shower. And why stop there, I would shave the peach fuzz off my arms, and back of my neck and I might as well do my moustache, and stray nipple hairs, and side burns too.

I know I sound like some sort of yeti, but actually I'm not that hairy, I don't have a monobrow or back hair or anything like that.

Is the proposed new regime too extreme?

Please DON'T shave anywhere on your face! I did and it has taken me years & years, and loads of money to sort that huge mistake out. The cost to me in confidence was unmeasurable! What happened?Confused

I wouldn't have laser either even though I'm an idea candidate with dark hair and light skin, knowing my luck I'd get scarred and that would be worse than the hair!

Seriously look around at waxing costs. I charge £30 for full leg, brows and underarms. After a while you may only need a half leg once the hair reduces.

Rosamund1 · 26/09/2016 09:13

Yorkie, your costs seem very reasonable, but even £300 a year is a lot for us when I could spend £3 per month on pound land Nair or a razor.

Get a Lumea, if you are the right skin type/hair colour for it. It really works. I haven't shaved in six weeks.

I wasn't in any way obsessed about body hair before I got the Lumea (didn't shave my legs in winter, bikini zone only for swimming etc), so the fact that I can go weeks in between applications suits me very well Smile

Notasinglefuckwasgiven · 26/09/2016 09:38

I can't help as I'm a non shaver. Don't see the point in shaving my legs or pits but I get a Hollywood wax every month on my lady parts. I'd recommend waxing every time. You can but wax strips in Poundland. Have a glass of wine and get them on. No hair for a month Grin

WhiskersAndPaws · 26/09/2016 09:44

I probably need to shave every day as my leg hair grows horribly quickly but if I were to attempt it (from past experience) I'd end up with a rash and loads of ingrown hairs.

Go for a wax. They usually last me two weeks.

WhiskersAndPaws · 26/09/2016 09:46

Sorry just seen your thing about cost I wax myself with veet strips they're about a tenner and enough for everything. Bikini line is too painful but the rest is about 5 seconds of pain for hair free and smooth for at least two weeks and most people it's more like four weeks.

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 26/09/2016 09:46

It sounds ridiculously time consuming and once you start doing it, it will be more noticeable if you decide you don't want to continue.

Why should a new together you mean scraping all your body hair off every day?

ChippyDucks · 26/09/2016 09:50

Going against the grain here but I don't think YABU at all
I shave my legs, forearms, underarms, bikini line and toes EVERY TIME I GO IN THE SHOWER.
I use a Lilibeth New York on my eyebrows and the peach fuzz on my face every week.

I have got a bit of a thing about hair though, I tried to let it all grow so I could get waxed and it kept me awake during the night - I could physically feel the hair on my legs.
Nowt better than having a new tin of shaving gel and a brand new razor Grin

ChippyDucks · 26/09/2016 09:51

^^oh and I'm very fair and have fine pale hair. I just can't abide it.

WhiskersAndPaws · 26/09/2016 09:53

Could someone who has used a lumea tell me what it's like and if it works? I have pale skin and dark brown hair and very hairy legs and chin Blush

I do my pits and my fanjo every time i shower (that's daily or ever other day). I use the shower gel that's all over me all ready and the razor hangs in the shower so i just grab it and do it and it takes me literally 40/50 seconds. Personally I don't bother with legs more than once a month because my hair there is almost invisible, but when i do it takes, again, less than a minute in the shower.

My face? I pat a bit of talc on and dry shave it about once every 10 days or so. My usual razor when it has a new blade on. It takes moments and whips any fuzz off cheeks, upper lip, jaw line ect. In my case it's not because the hair is visible, but because my make up goes on so much more smoothly when there's no hairs and my skin just looks ... sort of ... fresher.

Nothing awful's happened so far Hair hasn't increased or thickened. Haven't cut my face.

No special appointment to make or travel to. No big cost. No big deal if i can't be arsed for a while. My Tesco razor is about £6 for a few new blades. I change the blade when it gets dull or when i'm about to do my face. Which ever's first.

Seeyouontheotherside · 26/09/2016 10:32

Shaving armpits, legs and bikini area every day is fine and only takes a couple of mins because you're staying on top of it. I would find another solution for the face, I know two women who shave their faces and you can tell, they always have man like stubble now which grows quickly!!!!

AwakeCantSleep · 26/09/2016 11:42

Whiskers the Lumea works by emitting strong light which sends the hair follicles into a kind of deep sleep, which then stops the hair growing for a few weeks. You have to shave just before you use it. Have a look at the product descriptions online; they go into quite a lot of detail on how it works, and how well you can expect it to work for your skin type.

If you keep using it regularly you will quickly see an improvement (if you are the right skin/hair type). I use it on my legs about every couple of months now. Armpits and bikini zone I maybe do once a month. I do not feel the need to shave in between at all.

The good thing about the lumea is that there is no stubble. At all. Any hair that does grow is very thin and actually hardly noticeable. (In my case, anyway.) I have very sensitive skin (really quite bad), so using a shaver, wax or hair removal creams on a regular basis is a big no-no. My skin is fine with the occasional use of the lumea, thankfully.

RiverTam · 26/09/2016 11:49

Underarms every other day, whatever the season, too itchy otherwise.

Legs every other day in summer, once a week or so rest of the year.

Bikini line - if I'm going swimming, so rare
Eyebrows hardly ever

For what it's worth I'm very pale with very dark hair and my hair grows pretty quickly (a wax would last me a week maximum, none of this 6 weeks shite), but this regime seems to work for me.

BorpBorpBorp · 26/09/2016 11:51

The only concern I would have is whether you could realistically keep it up. I couldn't, but I am a lazy fucker. If you want to, and you can, go for it.

I wouldn't shave your face with a leg razor though, the risk of nicks is high and the efficacy is low. Get a men's electric razor that's made for faces if you want to shave your face. Actually, if you had a cordless electric razor you could probably shave your whole body while lying on your bed - might be nicer than in the shower.

ToastDemon · 26/09/2016 11:53

I like the sound of the Lumea for my ever-increasing neck beard and chin bristles.

MatildaTheCat · 26/09/2016 11:56

I shave in the shower most days. A Venus razor makes it completely smooth and takes no more than a minute or so.

Don't shave your face though. I've had electrolysis and it worked so well I wish I'd done it years ago.
