about Sunday morning deliveries?

Ocado has just finishing delivering to my neighbour. They came at 7.45 on a Sunday morning. They made loads of noise between the van noise and the banging around of the baskets or whatever they're called. AIBU to think that this is too early on a Sunday morning when people are trying to get a lie in? This is the second time Ocado have delivered to these neighbours before 8am on a Sunday. Am I being precious?

I think I'd be less annoyed if the driver didn't choose to park in front of our house (on a double yellow line as we are on the corner) both times, although they are delivering to a house across the road. It's right under our bedroom window.
I'm not a hypocrite. I try to be considerate of my neighbours. I've just refused my teenage son's request to have a party in our garden on Saturday night because they're a noisy lot and it's not fair on the neighbours. I may reconsider now!

I have to say I really love lazy Sunday mornings now because I used to live in a Muslim country for several years where they had basically one day off a week, Friday. Apart from the midday Friday prayer that was a frenetic a day as any other. I missed having one day at a slower pace. Oh god I'm turning into my mother (she still disagrees with Sunday trading!)

Park your own car outside window so they have to park in front of delivery house? Pre children I'd have hated been woken, post kids and if still asleep if be fuming. Angry

blueturtle6 · 25/09/2016 19:11

Sorry x post on double yellow lines

HermioneJeanGranger · 25/09/2016 19:23

Eh, I struggle to understand people being precious about Sunday lie-ins because I've worked weekends for the past five years and all my days off are midweek. I'm always getting woken up by traffic, building work, DIY etc.

Sundays are no different to any other day. Would it bother you if it was a Tuesday morning? I doubt it.

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 25/09/2016 19:25

I struggle with this preciousness over Sunday's too.... they are just another day? Plenty of is are up and working

riceuten · 25/09/2016 19:35

the same hysterical parents who say "7:45 on a Sunday is not early" are usually the ones who come round your house at 7pm, asking you to keep quiet "because their children are in bed now, and you're being inconsiderate"

I plan deliveries for a Sunday morning as it's the only morning of the week we are at home.

cardibach · 25/09/2016 20:22

Yes, lots of people do work weekends (I work Saturdays but not Sundays) but the majority of people are off I a Sunday. I think it's reasonable to expect quiet on a Sunday morning. I think people should be quiet until at least 8 every morning though, because, as you say, people have different days off.

Andrewofgg · 25/09/2016 20:25

If the neighbours want to get their delivery early so taht they are free to go out that's their call. YABU.

Myownperson · 25/09/2016 20:58

Oh no, I started reading thinking you were my neighbour but from the detail you're not. Phew!. I have had deliveries at that time on a Sunday the past few weeks. This morning was particularly noisy as I slept through the doorbell and knocking for a while.

It hasn't occurred to me it was too early as I'm used to being up at 6 with children. I always put something nice in the order for a Sunday breakfast so it's good to get it early.

I'll have a think though.

Treaclesoda - Sundays in NI when we're there are for visiting Maud's and not much else! Bliss.

God help your neighbours they are probably lucky to get a slot and take the early one. Look at yourself .

watts8 · 11/08/2020 13:18

I feel sorry for your neighbours living next to you.

I suspect delivery slots were a bit easier to get in 2016.
