My DS is 14 and has had a stammer for all his life. It varies in severity depending on tiredness, emotion, hormones, etc but he has certain "tells" and it's pretty much 50-75% of the time gently noticeable.
He's worked really hard to not be encumbered by it and not let it get him down and he says it's just him and if people don't like it or take the mick, then he's not interested.
Roll on to yesterday when he volunteered to be part of school's Open Evening and he ended up talking to all the parents and governors of the school, answering questions, and leading the team of two manning the particular subject desk (his mate who was with him has no speech impediment, just gets really shy)
I'm properly proud that he's confident enough to hold his own, and he was tickled that it was him holding the fort
AIBU to lavish him with pizza and treats for tea in light of a job well done? (I'm NBU, I just feel I should be rounding this off nicely)
