MN webchat with Cadburys/Kraft to answer for their shit chocolate

Lots of threads at the moment about how shit Cadburys (Kraft) chocolate is now. Full of palm oil and other nasties. So how about MNHQ arrange for some execs to come and explain themselves to their former customers?

And a guest blog from a chocolate chemist to explain why it now tastes so bad.

You could also ask them why they haven't paid any UK corporation tax since they bought up Cadbury.

And why they closed a factory and sacked workers, which they promised not to do before buying Cadbury.

It's not just their chocolate that is shit now, it's the whole company.

Cadburys generally have lost the plot.

Either that, or they are now managed by all the idiots I have dealt with in the past (I wonder if they are composed of the management teams from Woolworths, Comet, BHS, Past Times, Millets, and Alders ?).

There was a recent thread on MN about Thorntons appalling customer service and attitude to their disabled customers.

My father in law used to work at "the Cadburys" and said that back in the day, they would have made a major day out of such an opportunity. There would have been the Cadbury World tour plus lots of free (admittedly shit) chocolate.

So, feeling a surge of pride in my (adopted) city, I contacted Cadbury World, and highlighted the story with a suggestion that they could generate pages of free publicity, plus a local news story for the radio and TV.

So for one sad Brummie, the conclusion is clear. Cadburys don't give a shit - except when they are making their "Product" (can't even call it chocolate).

Maybe - here's an idea. Maybe Mumsnet could conduct a poll of it's membership and see if they are happy to continue the association with Cadburys ?

I think you can still buy the old (proper) Cadbury chocolate from Amazon - it's the made in Ireland version.

Omg is it too late to retrain as a Chocolate Chemist in my fifties? DREAM JOB surely?

GladAllOver · 24/09/2016 10:05

Actually I'm grateful to the Cadbury owners. They made me go and try the wonderful variety of Moser Roth chocolates at Aldi. Real chocolate with no oily aftertaste, and it's even cheaper.

I second the suggestion for MN to stop taking money from the disgraceful tax-avoiding, rip-off merchants Mondelez.
