What are your Best and worst famous band names?

It struck me what a crap name 'The Beatles' is for a band. I guess because they are so ubiquitous and influential I'd never considered that their name contains a crap pun on the fact they were a beat group.

Some band names are crap on paper but suit the group - like The Smiths who were going for that whole anti-star vibe, others like Love are okay on paper but are the complete antitheses of what the group are about.

But setting aside the actual qualities of the music or the group, which band names do you like/dislike the most:

Foo fighters. Even Dave Grohl admits it's a stupid name. (Love the band though)

Foo Fighters - I've heard worse names. Not that fussed either way about the band though. Not even the worst offender of the grunge/post grunge era in my book. Stone Temple Pilots, Screaming Trees are worse names (and bands IMO)

I think all the famous ones have been covered.

However - in the late 70s when I was about 8 years old, my father dragged my siblings and me to Missouri USA at Christmas to meet our "stepgrandparents" (as his then wife's upbringing was the stuff of soap operas, they were not actually her parents).

They lived in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri, called Floressant or some vague resemblance of that spelling

I decided then that Fluorescent Misery would be a fabulous name for a punk band. Since it seemed like I had been dragged into the filming set of Deliverance, Floressant Missouri was indeed an alien place to my mind.

Still think it might be an interesting name for a band (not that I am in any way inclined to use it).

Are you serious? was that an actual band? Was it a parody of Bachman Turner Overdrive? Or am I just missing something here - the story of my life.

I like "The String Cheese Incident". Never actually listened to the music but heard the band name and liked it.
