to think that parking your huge motor home on the street is not on?

A house down the road from us randomly has a big motor home for a few weeks at a time. They don't go anywhere in it, just park it up outside the house Confused they also have a minibus, small car and an estate car. They only have space for one car on the drive so they take up tons of space on an already narrow road. They park so close to the corner that you can't see if there's anything coming your way until you're bumper to bumper!

It drives me crazy but dh thinks I'm getting annoyed for no reason. I just think it's hugely selfish to take up so much space.

I wonder if my old neighbour has moved to your street? Took up loads of spaces with various vehicles. Couldn't do anything as we don't own the road but God it was irritating!

If a motorhome is taxed & insured & legally parked on a highway there's probably nothing the local authority can do about it, as long as its not being lived in. The police might want to know if its causing an obstruction or is too near a junction, but they usually can't be bothered.

My local authority has a byelaw that prevents you parking caravans or motorhomes in your front garden or on your driveway if that means they are in front of the building line. (This seems a bit arbitrary tbh, as they don't enforce it for vans or minibuses, but then I guess they aren't going to be there 24/7 for weeks on end)

This would actually seem to encourage people to leave them on the road except that a caravan is likely to get nicked before the end of the week

We had the covenant re caravans etc in our last house, blatantly ignored by some but I don't think anyone ever complained as there was never an obstruction.

If it's legally parked there's not a lot you can do, yes it's selfish and antisocial but some people couldn't give a shit about being good neighbours.

If, however, it's deemed to be causing an obstruction, you may be able to get it stopped. Would an ambulance be able to get past if it needed to for instance. I'm sure others will be able to advise re the legality of parking half on the path. That has to be the single most annoying thing about walking anywhere in towns these days esp with a pushchair or wheelchair.

Also, I understand you can get the tax, mot and insurance status of vehicles online these days if you happen to get hold of the registration number...
