To have cereal for dinner

Squtternutbosch · 17/09/2016 19:02

I'm 34 weeks pregnant. I'm not sleeping, I have a bad back, it's boiling hot and I'm absolutely exhausted.

Determined not to "waste my Saturday", I got up and took myself off round the shops today, got a bunch of chores done, re-stocked all the household cleaning products, did a bit of baby shopping, then did a full food shop. Bought load of veggies and meat and stuff to make some healthy dinners for the week, including a nice big soup for this evening.

Thing is, I spent so much energy doing all my lovely healthy food shopping that I'm now slumped on the sofa in my comfy trousers, and the thought of even putting the shopping away, let alone cooking, makes me want to sob.

So I turn to you, people of AIBU, in the hope that you will grant me permission to say fuck it to the healthy food and have Shreddies for my dinner. Please?

Cereal for dinner is one of life's pleasures! Go ahead and enjoy! :-)

LaurieFairyCake · 17/09/2016 19:05

Order pizza

P1nkP0ppy · 17/09/2016 19:13

I've just had a bowl of muesli topped with black cherry yogurt and strawberries because I'm home alone and cba to cook.
Go for it op!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/09/2016 19:14

Yes you must eat cereal for tea. Coco, frosted or normal Shreddies?
Why not throw caution to the wind and not wash up your bowl? Shock

Leave it in the sink for the morning. Smile

I love cereal for dinner. Do it!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 17/09/2016 19:15

Go ahead and have the biggest bowl you want. I'm only 27 weeks and cereal for dinner seems to be my go to thing at the moment after I have cleaned, etc

So enjoy

DerekSprechenZeDick · 17/09/2016 19:17

Frosties is my love at the moment. Usually wake at 5am for them

Go for it

AmeliaJack · 17/09/2016 19:22

Get your big food shop delivered. It will be considerably easier when the baby arrives.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/09/2016 19:22

Usually wake at 5am for them

That's a serious Frostie habit. Drinking the delicious milk out the bottom of the bowl afterwards indicates an out of control Frostie addiction.

YANBU cornflakes and ice cold full fat milk is all my pregnant self ate for about 13 weeks...

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 17/09/2016 19:24

Brinner is awesome, have at it. When I was pregnant I scoffed crunchy nut cornflakes with ice cold milk day and night! 😋

DerekSprechenZeDick · 17/09/2016 19:25

Ilost 'my excuse is been 37 week pregnant Grin

Before this is didn't like cereal

Squtternutbosch · 17/09/2016 19:26

I knew I could count on you!

Just normal shreddies. Full fat milk, of course. No sugar. A really huge bowl.

Sadly I live in a country with poor delivery pizza choices and even poorer online food shopping. Stuck in the dark ages! So cereal has been my go-to.

I felt a bit shifty as I also had cereal for lunch. But it was weetabix, a whole different food group.

I did eat an apple earlier, so I guess that counts as balanced.

I'm only 19 weeks and too tired to have dinner- so Doritos and kitkats are my dinner. I've eaten healthily for every other meal today and this week. Sod it.

LooseSeal · 17/09/2016 19:30

I have a relative who's a midwife. I know she advises pregnant women if they can't face eating anything else to have cereal because it's fortified, so you have a HCP's permission.

avocadosweet · 17/09/2016 19:46

I've just made some cornflake flapjacks for my dinner! Love being home alone and not having to make a proper dinner.

apostropheuse · 17/09/2016 19:55

When I was pregnant with my first I woke at 4.10am (precisely that time) every morning and had a bowl of rice krispies. Every single day until she was born. It was one of thw few foods that didn't make me sick. She's not been harmed by it! Grin ...and she's thirty now.

Squtternutbosch · 17/09/2016 20:08

Oh man I love Rice Krispies. I also wake up at around 4 am every single morning. Have to pee, then get restless legs, then have to pee again. Then start worrying about how little time I have left to sleep. Sigh. 6 weeks to go (and then I'll just never sleep). Fun.

Looseseal thank you! That's exactly what I needed to hear. If a midwife said it, it must be fine.
