Screenshot from local mums' FB group. Can't remember if this is allowed on MN (identity is obscured). Ah well, I'm sure someone will be along to set me straight if not!

But teddies are a different species! Why would humans bf them?

OMG SPECIESIST!

yep, it's OTT and very preachy. Live and let live and all that.

Having said that, I don't see what's odd about toddlers pretending to breastfeed teddies or dolls though, surely that's just what they do if that's what they're used to seeing - either still feeding themselves or watching another baby being breastfed regularly, e.g. younger sibling.

My then 2 yr old started "breastfeeding" her doll (cuddling it on her lap and lifting her t-shirt over it's face Grin) shortly after her baby sister came along. Have to admit that I did a double take the first time I saw her do it, but did then wonder why I hadn't anticipated it. She still does it now even though she hasn't seen her sister fed like that for months. Still also gives it a bottle too. All normal surely?

SprogletsMum - I'd have been more than a bit miffed at that actually - why stop a toddler roleplaying a normal part of family life as she experiences it, it's what they're supposed to do isn't it? Did they give a reason?

If you pretended to bottle feed a Pom Bear would that create peak sanctimommy?

Gooseysgirl · 17/09/2016 19:44

That woman sounds totally deranged... Hmm

Please point out that you mustn't breastfeed feed bears. Please?!
