And apparently just 9g carbs + 1g sugar.

I am eating it now and wondering why the label says so.

I want! Does it taste scrummy like it should be more calories or a bit healthy?

FeckinCrutches · 16/09/2016 21:10

There is no crap on the ingredients list which is good

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 16/09/2016 21:10

Told ya! Postage stamp sized slices.

SpookyPotato · 16/09/2016 21:10

40g is pretty small, who would eat that amount!? Sneaky buggers Grin

CoolToned · 16/09/2016 21:10

Yeah but the whole box is just 600grams.

It says per 100 grams:

100 grams = 150 kj = 35.8 calories
13.5 total carbs

Spooky - it tastes light and airy actually so I will not be surprised if it's not calorific but it has cream and sugar and well, the 35calories/100grams slice kinda makes me suspicious.

90 KJ is 21 calories. Where does it say 35 cal? 35 mg of salt???? What does it taste like??

SpookyPotato · 16/09/2016 21:13

It is a bit weird, I wonder if they've mixed up kj and calories.

FeckinCrutches · 16/09/2016 21:14

90kj is about 20 cals

CoolToned · 16/09/2016 21:14

takesnoprisoners = it says 150kj per 100 grams. I just converted.

It tastes not salty at all.

FeckinCrutches · 16/09/2016 21:16

Ok it says 10 servings at 40g, (can't enlarge picture) that's obviously only 400 not 600g, is the whole label bollocks?

CoolToned · 16/09/2016 21:17

I checked the box again, it says 1 serving is 60grams. I misread it as 40g too.

FeckinCrutches · 16/09/2016 21:18

Dude, you need some more coffee, or better glasses Wink

FeckinCrutches · 16/09/2016 21:20

Surely no way there is 0.0 saturated fat in there either when it has butter and cream in it?

PatriciaHolm · 16/09/2016 21:22

Far more likely to be 350 calories per 100g. Second largest ingredient is butter!

MephistoMarley · 16/09/2016 21:24

100g of Apple is more than 35 calories. I reckon it's 150 calories per 100g not 150kj making the whole box 900 calories which seems about right.

CoolToned · 16/09/2016 21:25

Maybe I should email them and ask what they're smoking. :D

FeckinCrutches · 16/09/2016 21:29

Is that your blog?

TempusEedjit · 16/09/2016 21:36

Fat contains 9 calories per gram. According to that label 100gr of strudel contains 9gr fat = 81 calories already ergo that label is bollox.

I wonder whether that company also prints child entry zoo tickets? Wink

Bunnyjo · 16/09/2016 21:40

There is far more calories in that than you are being led to believe - carbohydrates and protein are 4 Kcal per gram and fat is 9 Kcal per gram.

Therefore - if I read the values correct - protein 1.5g, fat 9g, carbohydrate 12g per 100g - it will be approx. 144 calories per 100g and 864 calories for the whole strudel.

To be completely honest, I would doubt anything on that nutritional data list. The carbohydrate value is ridiculously low - flour, apples and sugar are primarily/solely carbohydrate based, so a value of 12g per 100g would be impossible based on the ingredients list. Not to mention the absence of saturated fats despite having both butter and cream Confused Hmm

As a former food development technologist part of my role was to compile legal packaging data, including nutritional data.

CoolToned · 16/09/2016 21:41

Fekin - no, just a random blog I found that actually made me want to try that apple strudel in the first place! :D

Tempus and Bunny - and it's giving me hyperacidity too.

TheGruffaloMother · 16/09/2016 21:56

So in 600 grams of this stuff, there's just 215 calories? Well that's bollocks, isn't it?

Are you advertising this stuff? [Suspicious glances at OP]

PedantPending · 16/09/2016 21:56

That is not an apple strudel, it is an apple mille feuilles.

cexuwaleozbu · 16/09/2016 22:06

I think they dropped a zero by accident and it's 1500 kj per 100g or 350 calories. That would be about the right ballpark for a confection of cream sugar pastry and fruit.

SpookyPotato · 16/09/2016 22:08

This strudel is going to be making unsuspecting people fat all over Oz! Grin
