From the 5p carrier bag charge.

Prior to that, their float counting and banking must have been so easy! Drawer full of quids and notes.

Now they have all the smaller coins too.

What a shitter for them.

They haven't battled inflation they've just found crapper stuff to sell. Went completely off them when I saw tins of baked beans in there - what a ripoff.

Leo35 · 16/09/2016 22:58

did you buy any Beefy Balls? Love this thread.

NapQueen · 16/09/2016 23:00

Their kids books are very very good.

I popped in for some chocolate yesterday. Came out £46 lighter and now have a house full of crap.

OwlinaTree · 16/09/2016 23:13

They haven't battled inflation they've just found crapper stuff to sell.

Lol, exactly!

Scaredycat3000 · 16/09/2016 23:32

Totally agree with found crapper stuff. In the early years I found loads of brilliant stuff. But warehouses with random stuff that had been hanging about, gradually all sold the backlog. So now most things are made for the pound shops, 5 packets of crisps instead of 6 with an free stuff offer that ended last week. Much of the stuff is still good value, with the lucky find of brilliantness. I tend to find good toy bargains now in no/low chain bargain shops and toiletries in www.savers.co.uk/ which seems to have popped up everywhere, much better choice. I still love pound shops though.

ilovesooty · 16/09/2016 23:32

I got one of those vouchers in Poundworld today. I suppose that is their answer to Poundland 's 90p merchandise. Grin

oldlaundbooth · 17/09/2016 01:17

You can get a medium size Toblerone for a quid in poundland.

manicinsomniac · 17/09/2016 04:19

But the stuff in poundland doesn't literally cost a pound exactly, does it? I thought it was just a catchy name for a very cheap shop. I'm sure they must have loads of 89p, £1.69 type of annoyance.

stitchglitched · 17/09/2016 04:35

There baked beans are 3 for a pound, I thought that was quite good value!

We have a Poundland Plus near us, more like Poundstretcher with household stuff and toys costing more than a pound. Still love it though!

OwlinaTree · 17/09/2016 06:11

manic no it is a land where everything costs £1. Well the vast majority does anyway.

OwlinaTree · 17/09/2016 06:12

I want to go to poundland plus!

ABunchOfFuckingPidgeys · 17/09/2016 12:20

I buy a lot of my nail varnish in there. I've bought loads that are still on sale in Boots and Superdrug for 4 quid a bottle. Exact same bottle and shade but loads cheaper.

WankingMonkey · 17/09/2016 14:07

I fucking hate poundland. Go in to get a drink on the way past or something and end up with 30 quids worth of useless tat that will never be used but seemed a necessity when I saw it for so cheap

mogloveseggs · 17/09/2016 14:11

I get confused is poundland the green or the blue one?

OwlinaTree · 17/09/2016 14:21

Poundland is the green one.

SquinkiesRule · 17/09/2016 14:58

I like Pound World better. Nicer crap. They also sell my favorite snack Caramel rice cakes £1 each pack, and Foxes glacier mints are two bags for a pound.

SillySongsWithLarry · 17/09/2016 15:02

We have 3 poundlands on our high street. Three! No one needs threw poundlands on one high street. Every few steps is a poundland.

DerekSprechenZeDick · 17/09/2016 15:03

I have a 90p shop as a new pound shop opened next door to it.

They invited a emerdale cast member to open it as well Grin

manicinsomniac · 17/09/2016 19:09

Ah ok, thanks owlina I don't think I've ever been in one then. It's poundstretcher that's near me.

x2boys · 17/09/2016 19:26

i prefer homebargains personally and B&M bargains ds 2 loves pound land and poundworld hes autistic and nonverbal but he gets his sweeties from poundland so always drags me in

Muddlewitch · 17/09/2016 19:41

We've got two a few doors away from each other too, I've seen it in other places too. I wondered if it is to stop rivals coming in then one of the neighbouring shops becomes empty. It's a bit overkill though!

OpheIiaBaIIs · 17/09/2016 19:47

Poundworld is the tits. Revlon foundations/nail polish/lipsticks, all between £8-£12 at Boots. They sell cheesy Christmas trees all year. And Twinkies. TWINKIES.

londonrach · 17/09/2016 20:06

Someone needs to babysit my 7 week as i really need to visit poundland for bits...

mogloveseggs · 17/09/2016 20:08

Thanks owlina
It's good for bits but the other one is better for food. Home bargains is best though.
