To be utterly fucking sick of Brexit?!

I'm just sick of it! Every day, everywhere you turn, Brexit Brexit Brexit! If there was some sort of app that lets you block everything to do with Brexit I would totally get it. The decision is done, it's now out of our hands, and I'm sick to death of reading/hearing about it. Every goddamn day.

Ta1kin good point, if my livelihood depended on foreign tourism I'd be very nervous.

ilovesooty · 16/09/2016 17:19

You might not want to engage with important constitutional matters. Other people might want to keep themselves informed.

ImperialBlether · 16/09/2016 17:29

I get the feeling that a good proportion of those who voted Brexit have forgotten all about it now. Or think it's happened.

AmeliaJack · 16/09/2016 17:33

That's a deeply depressing notion Imperial

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 16/09/2016 17:35

'I think some people saw leaving the EU as like cancelling Netflix or something. "We clicked Unsubscribe, what's left to talk about?"'

I think you're right!

The80sweregreat · 16/09/2016 17:43

I am going to stick my fat neck out and say that I doubt article 50 will ever be triggered. Who would want that on their political record? Theresa is a remainer , even the ones she has appointed seem in the dark about what to do and they are leavers! Nobody has a clue - I say, wait till the French elections are over early next year and I can see the whole thing slowly go on the backburner, be put there as long as possible while they try to find a way of getting us out of it or we have another election. Why do you think all this has blown up about schools and the grammer v comprehensive arguments? in order to keep us thinking about something else. Something else will blow up soon, then another thing and so on till we ever forgot there was a blinking referendum in the first place ( which should never have happened anyway!)

HyacinthFuckit · 16/09/2016 17:53

YABVU.

Not because you're fed up with it all, that's fair enough, but to think the decision is done and it's out of our hands. It really, really isn't you know. Because we don't have a process specifically designed for this, we'll be making it up as we go along, and that means there's a great deal of scope for, well, anything. For example, have you stopped to think about what will happen if, at the next general election, a party stands on a platform of not leaving and gets a majority? There's no blueprint at all for that.

It's bizarre how many people feel confident in saying anything about the Brexit thing with any certainty. Or anything else, actually. I would've thought if there's one thing the past year has shown us, it's that we can't take anything whatsoever for granted. The old certainties have gone.

Helmetbymidnight · 16/09/2016 17:56

You wanted to 'take back control'. Now you don't even want to talk about it?
Weird.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 16/09/2016 17:57

Sick of what?

It hadn't even started yet.
And yes, how did you vote OP?

WanderingNotLost · 16/09/2016 18:24

I voted remain, for what it's worth. And I have Irish citizenship so in terms of my own ability to travel etc that won't change. It's not that I'm not engaged, and keeping up to date with the news is a pretty important part of my job!

OP posts:
HyacinthFuckit · 16/09/2016 18:39

Ok then I have to ask, if keeping up with the news is your thing, why on earth would you think this is any kind of done deal? Or that it's out of our hands? I can see why, if you have to spend a lot of time absorbing the news, you might have had enough of one of the more significant stories of the past couple of months. But not why you'd think it's done!

averylongtimeago · 16/09/2016 19:42

Well I'm fed up of brexit too. I am fed up of sleepless nights, of worry and fear that my life, my business and my home are all going to be fucked up because people are "taking back control" , sending all the foreigners back, spending all that money on the NHS except their not
So yes OP, let's all put our heads in the sand and ignore it.
