What do we do now?

We live near a primary school and for the past year the parents have increasingly used the street as a drop off/pick up point. They have blocked my car in 3 times and i have had to wait until they come back to ask them not to do it again as i may be trying to get to something important and it's really not fair (dds doctors appointment) i now avoid leaving my house around school times because i hate the hassle. Today i finally reached the end of my tether when a parent was inches away from crashing into me when she decided to reverse out (at full speed) into a main road. I was slowing down as i was approaching the junction but i still had to perform an emergency stop and scared dd. When she finally parked i asked her why she done that as it was a very dangerous manoeuvre and if someone wasn't paying attention like me it could've ended badly. She cried and told me she was running late for picking her dd up which i then told her was no excuse and she needs to be more careful in future. I approached another parent and asked her if she or other parents have ever spoken to the school themselves to see if they could fund a new car park (the current car park is tiny) and she lost her temper at me and asked why should they it's fine the way it is. I have complained to the school numerous times and they say they understand and they have loads of complaints everyday but won't do anything about it. I literally begged them for help even if they can send someone to help organise the traffic as i am frightened someone is going to get hurt. The children constantly run around on the road and with parents driving to fast it is an accident waiting to happen. But they will not do anything. I have complained to the council and our local pcso but nothing has been done. I have asked other residents that live here and they are getting fed up aswell. Our local mp is having a public meeting on monday which i will attend to see if she can help in anyway. I have been taking a note of how many cars come in the morning and afternoon, also number plates. But what can i do now? It seems like no one wants to do anything about it..

I've worked supply at a 3 form entry school before that has no car park. Not even for staff.

I try to be considerate and park a few streets away and walk but even then I'm aware it's a residential area and it must be really annoying for the people who live there.

Lots of schools have only a few spaces and many more staff that are traveling in from all over. It's a difficult situation.

Our school has done loads and mostly sorted the parking chaos just outside the school but adjoining roads will obviously get the spillover. there just isn't' anywhere to park on the school road anymore or very few spaces. Now outside school there are parking wardens most days, cameras have been put up, head goes out often etc.

I am very lucky not to have to drive to school but on the few occasions that I do (mostly pick up) then I would park in a side street but considerably and get there early

Get a dash cam, can save money with some insurers and that way you have proof of any dangerous driving when in car.

Residents only access to streets immediately surrounding the school will just push the problem back a few streets and make life harder for parents who work (clearly I'm not talking about lazy, entitled piss takers).

I spotted a lady wearing a hi vis jacket this morning but she wasn't there long. There is only one teacher parked today, i think they are finally starting to do something about it.
A residents only permit would be the best solution.

Only for you and the people who live right next to the school but the streets right next to where this area starts and finishes would end up exactly the same- you'd just push the problem away a few streets. Plus lets face it. .. the only people who would pay any attention would be the decent folk who park considerately. The eejits who are happy to double park, block drives or park on zig zags and corners are not already breaking the law and wouldn't think twice about aping in a residents only zone.

witchywoohoo · 16/09/2016 12:29

That should say are already breaking the law!

Amy214 · 16/09/2016 12:35

They all sit there for 30 minutes, waiting for their children to come out.

Today is a school half day (finishes at 12.30pm) and there wasn't as many cars.

Those that say the residents are making it awkward for the considerate parkers really need to take it up with the inconsiderate parkers.

Even being made late for work once because someone has made it impossible to leave the house is not good enough.

CalmYaTits · 16/09/2016 12:45

Buy some fake parking tickets and have funGrin

Amy214 · 16/09/2016 13:23

CalmYaTits that sounds like fun Grin

It happens all over the country op. Will it take the death of a child for something to be done? The few selfish ignorant parents who think they are above the law and can park wherever they like and two fingers to everyone else. If you do call them out you find they are usually very unpleasant people.
Change.org? I'd sign as I'm fed up of the fuckers.

Amy214 · 16/09/2016 15:35

Cloudspider something needs to be done and soon.

My D.Sf got into trouble for taking pictures of badly driven/parked cars. Where they live it is narrow and has parked cars. Some parent told him to move when he was walking along the narrow pavement so they could drive onto itConfused massive 4 wheel drive.

He was trying to sort out residents parking.
