Job- do I stay or do I go

I started a new job 6 weeks ago and I've just not settled in with the rest of the team. They ignore me, report everything I do to the management or in some cases they make things up.

I am constantly being told off, they have threatened me today with supervision of tasks I'm perfectly capable of doing and have been doing for years in my previous job.

It's not getting better, if anything it gets worse. I'm in tears at the thought of going in tomorrow. I know I'll be called incompetent again, they will call me lazy despite the fact I won't stop all day and do more than them.

Should I stay?

Leave.

Look for another job, don't tell them. And go.

Its not worth being unhappy.

I spoke to management on Friday addressing my concerns. But she seemed non plussed about the issues and was told they are like it with new staff.

However inexperienced new starter is being praised and fits in the fold and is being put on training courses to do work I won't be able to do without them.

My head says leave. It's only going to get worse.

Walk away. Life's too short to be stressing over work. Get back onto the agencies - temp if need be.

Some work places are just shite. At one point in my life I worked as a temp. 3 days was often enough to thank the Lord that that was all you had to work there. I remember one job where the agency asked me to go in at short notice. Apparently they had taken on permanent employee on Monday morning but she had left by lunchtime. I could understand why but the employer had no idea. There were several other companies just as bad. Can you temp for a bit while you look for another permanent post? Or do you live in an area where you could get regular temp work? Don't stay unless you really need to financially. The last company I worked for I went in as a temp and stayed 20 years. You will find somewhere better.

Yep, as others have said, leave.

Life's too short.

I worked at a place that just didn't suit me at all. Full of 20-somethings that were wearing thick make up and with little substance. When I wore make-up it was a bit outlandish, so I didn't wear any to work other than mascara, and I wasn't interested in only ever chatting about clubbing and who is shagging who. There was one lovely guy in another department who I got on well with, but he was seconded from the Newcastle office and it wasn't enough.

I left after two weeks giving them two days notice - I offered two weeks notice but they said it was up to me, so I left at the end of the week.

Leave. Don't look back. There are better options out there for you.

Thank you. I am not so desperate to stay in a job where no one has my back.

I have no contemporaries where I work. All a lot younger with a different set of priorities. I don't expect friendship or socialising with them but a bit of civil chit chat over a coffee or at least a hello.

I won't put it on my cv, and look into agency work and fudge dates a bit. So last job finished august, agency from August.

I used to be in tears for 3 months every morning, just thinking of going into work. I always felt guilty for wanting to quit, but honestly it's the best feeling!

Resign, leave, don't look back and very shortly it will feel as if you never worked there.

Trust me you aren't the first person they would have done this to and you certainly won't be the last.

I work with teenagers and some days it is like an episode of the Apprentice! They all do hardly anything all day other than chat and gang up on those people who actually want to work. As ever, ineffective management do nothing.

I've rang my former manager for feedback today. The crux is she's happy with everything I did. I'm going to have a conversation to see if there are any suitable roles that I can do.

I left my previous job for reasons that it meant it didn't fit around my family but it wasn't acrimonious. So I rang them to see if they had problems with my work. I'm also friends with my old workmates so no issues there.

I'm popping in to see her next week to see if there are any vacancies in the pipeline.
