To think the people on Poldark should be able to say Poldark?

Look, I'm Scottish. So admittedly that's quite far from Cornwall. But isn't it Pole-dark? I'm sure last series he called himself Pole-dark.

But now everyone is calling him Poll-DARK.

Are they wrong?

I noticed that too! In s1 they say it normally, but in s2 it's all 'Captain PolDARK'.

The stress on the second syllable is technically correct. So it should be Pol-DARK.

Maybe he's going to start spelling it in the French style, Polledarque.

I think the "posh" characters say it correctly Pole-DARK and then the "villagers/workers" say Pole-dark.

I hadn't noticed, but there is far too much filler of views of cliffs and people walking, riding, standing, atop them. I know its lovely scenery but when you've seen one maiden with locks flowing in the wind you've seen em all.

He's always Ross to me (sigh)

They're saying it correctly if they put the emphasis on dark - other Cornish places such as Polperro, Polzeath, Polruan all stress the last part not the pol part.

Im Cornish and we are a large County with accents from the Lizard peninsular differing a lot to those in Saltash

It's never been Pole-dark, but Pol-dark, even in the first go round in the 70s!
